So I finally got my numbers to what I consider respectable and decided to do my first meet as a raw 198 (weighed in at 194).
Definitely not a powerhouse but I’m happy with my numbers.
I went 9 for 9 and totaled 1290. My goal is 1400 for my next meet.
Squat - 450
Bench - 290
Dead - 550
Vids if anyone is interested.
I almost got buried by the squat because I had the bar too high. I just wasn’t used to the monolift (no excuse I know) but I’ll know better for next time. I usually use a low bar position.
killer dude! you need to slap some more weight on that deadlift bar. Also, why didn’t you pull with the belt? It looks like you had 20 lbs left, and with a belt it might have been even more than that.
way to push through on the squat too. Nothing feels worse than folding over haha but you fought your way to the top, pete rubish style lol

Thanks! TBH - I don’t like wearing a belt when I deadlift. I feel like it gets in my way when I setup for the lift.
As for the squat - it shouldn’t have been that hard. I had the bar loaded too high (higher than normal) and it pushed me forward in the hole. First time in a monolift and I had the height too high. I’ll change that next time.

LOL kpsnap. That’s Gene Rychlak - first person to bench 1000.[/quote]
I thought that was Big Gene. It’s been years since I have seen him and I doubt he’d remember me. I can’t speak for now but he was one of the nicest guys in the sport I ever came across.
late2thegame,
We have to be close, where are you located in PA? I’m south of Stroudsburg.

Gene is still one of the nicest guys out there. He runs an awesome meet too.
You’re right, we’re not far from one another. I’m in Bethlehem Township. Not far at all.

Actually since you know the area, I’m in Ross Township, right above Wind Gap and work in Allentown. Good chance you would have wooped up on me in a meet if you were around 8 years ago.
550 no belt. I would guess that if you learn how to use your belt correctly 600# will be no problem. That beltless 550 looked solid. That was a nice first meet.
