Why are you advising this if Cholulalula’s goal is a max effort at a powerlifting meet? The upper body is stronger in the arched, decline position.

Because I want her to be able to walk w/o a cane when she’s 80. Or even 50.

Jeffrey, check out this link (hopefully it works). I see your point, and trust me, I’m overly paranoid about making sure I’ll be healthy and ambulatory when I’m 80 and beyond, but I think arching the right way (thru the upper back) is safe.

He’s right - he does need to find a better word than “arch”.
the pic on the right - w/ the red x - is what 99% of people mean when the say “arch your back”; the pic on the right - “the right way to arch” - isn’t arching. Like I said, squeeze the shoulder blades together; I see now we meant the same thing but w/ different words. (I have seen the pic on the right form on this site from various people, and everyone is like “way to go, killin it!” /facepalm.)

I’ve said it before, I just don’t think the English language is descriptive enough for lifting.
And you are strong, everything is relative, shit I feel weak looking at your perfect form at the weight you are with your lifts.
