My Baby Got Sauce

Lula: Dls look good. Just be careful how you lower the weight. And by careful I mean don’t be so careful. I learned this while doing rack pulls–as I gently tried to put the weight down–I felt the greatest strain on my lower back. Dls are great. Pick that shit up and you’re done! Put it down with abandon or something like that…

Good luck with your studies!

Just gotta say, your Dls are ridic. I can’t critique form, but your strength never ceases to amaze me.

I’d be interested to see what happens when you get a belt on too…

Good luck with the schoolin’ sista! Don’t work too hard

nice deadlift! love how the guy stops his conversation to check it out!

DL’s are looking better. just keep working at it. doesn’t happen over night. with GM’s, I use to do them as a ME movement. anyway to get it up, you get it up. with Josh, he has me do light weight, high volume now. like these way better. I focus on a quick, but controlled the way down, and explode back up. I like to get a good stretch in my hamstrings/glutes. I could crack a walnut with my ass cheeks there is so much blood in them afterwards. lol

good luck with school lula. make us proud, as some of us may need your PT skills one day. hehe

I just came to say that I can’t see this thread on the main page without screaming “Your baby ain’t sweet like mine!”

Sweet deadlift, though. Looks like you could have pulled two plates

awesome lifting is awesome!

Austin-thanks for that video. I definitely don’t look like that girl. And I have no reason for no weight belt other than it never occurred to me. Thanks for the suggestion, it has founds it’s place on my Dear Santa list.

Nads: But I’m a midwestern girl, niceness is bred into me…I can’t just go dropping things now, can I? I need to learn to drop the bar, for some reason that freaks me out.

Masch: Thanks love!

Alexus: Ha! I noticed that too, and he’s that woman’s personal trainer, oops!

Koub: Thanks…I need to realize that progression takes time. I WANT IT ALL NOW!

Borrek: Do you like cold beverages, too? Thanks for stopping in. 2 plates was mine a few pages back, that day not so much.

mim: YOU’RE awesome

reppin some big weight there!!! WOW!!

That set of 185 was pure awesome. I bet the guy next to you is questioning a lot of things right now. haha.

Weight belt is good for you. You’ll be wearing one when you compete right? Might as well get used to one now. I saw you mentioning back pain on max dl attempt also.

laugh Squat off! Poor fella, maybe this direct experience with a girl out-squatting him will motivate him. grin

You should feel good about those, they looked great and that ‘is’ some pretty srs weight to be repping. Military is the slowest to develop, don’t fret. You’re doing quality work with consistency- it’ll get there. And! remember everything comes in spurts, not that smooth upward curve we’d all like. You’re also running (a lot, weirdo :P) and doing gymnastics, the numbers they am good. nod

good job on those squats!!! GREAT JOB on those squats!

Great squats! Your form is really tight and dialed in. haha the best part is that dude nervously giving your weights the shifty eye.

Also, I like cold beverages. Two six packs and a big bag of ice. Didn’t even catch a bite, but the brew tasted nice

Awesome squatting  Hope you made the guy next to you rethink his workouts. It’s so satisfying to lift more than guys in the gym and have better technique. Maybe that’s just me…

nice work on the squats Lula

Gawd you look good in Spandex. Damn gorl.

Nice squats! I was laughing at the guy in the background too.

Yonkey-That’s a good point, and probably an obvious one I have been overlooking! And that guy next to me whistled before every set, so he was probably just looking over at me because I was glaring at him, DARING him to whistle during my set! (he didn’t)

Kristoph-Fine, I’ll relax about the numbers. FINE. Squat-off Zoolander style next time would be better, I’ll see what i can arrange

Borrek, Pixie, Frenchie, Hallowed-Thanks for the lovin’! (and hallowed, Ive seen you in your undies, you look good in those!)

Today:

**all above SS with 5 pull ups

Accessory 10x3
DB Press
Dips
Curls
Band pull aparts

**I have to get blood work done later so today’s training was fasted. I don’t know how you IF people do it, y’all are NUTTY!
**Also, does anyone else feel the need to cut carbs a few days before getting weighed in at the doctor, or is that just me!? Yea, no carbs+no coffee+no food=weaksauce.

I’m stealing this from Sam Byrd’s log over at EliteFTS. He has great “daily motivators,” (and really, great training in general) here’s one that stood out to me:

Momentum of effort

The way to feel like doing it is to do it. The way to get the work done is to get started and to keep going. When you’re already doing nothing, it’s much too easy to continue doing nothing. Yet you can always choose to break that pattern. Momentum is a powerful force. So get it working in your favor. Don’t be held back by the momentum of idleness. Get busy, establish the momentum of effort, and let it push you powerfully toward achievement. In just one moment, in just one step forward, you can get yourself going. Then, take one more step and you begin to get momentum on your side. You can do it, so do it. Don’t keep your achievements waiting one moment longer.

Ralph Marston

numbers looking great! love the guy in the squat video. and he was cutting them high… lol. I have to fast before lifting. but that’s because I wake up, and go straight to the gym. can’t eat that soon. GL on the blood work. really need to get mine done…
