I’m amazed at how shitty most of those guys looked.

I guess many who compete in that division want to start competing early instead of doing the bodybuilding part first lol
Then again, not all looked bad… I just don’t get what the this rave is about competing long before you have even begun to fill out your frame…
Still, the OP’s “off-season” size doesn’t even match their contest-shape-size… So OP, come on, give yourself 2 years at least.
Second-to-last guy had some decent size to him but fuck all in terms of conditioning. Actually, not much in terms of conditioning all around, but it is just a state show.
If the OP must compete, most likely his only hope is to compete as a lightweight and come in shredded.
According the the Cephalic_Carnage post, if he shreds out he can do that.
Those guys suck. Go for it OP, you’ll come 4th at a shit competition.
I believe he will have to build a certain amount of toughness to make it through the diet and prep.
One thing I noticed from these amatuers. They show how much of a difference proper posture and posing are in these contests. Its not 1% its more like 20% of the battle!
If OP decides to go this road, he will be able to keep the toughness that it took to get it done and use it for the next several years to forge an incredible physique.

If you enter for the exp. have fun !
if your entering to win… prepare to not but hell least you tried … best of luck.
Entering “for the experience” is just a cop-out for pussies.
Every show i have seen always has some people there who clearly don’t belong.
But if they are determined to enter, then off with them and more power to them least they have a goal, which is more than i can say for most people these days, even on here.

Damn I’m glad you caught that.
Just a tip, they will read whatever they want to hear into whatever you type. Most of your time will be spent writing, “I didn’t say that” over and over if people even half way listen to what you say here.
What I had said, is the Cephalic_Carnage link showed the level of competition. I believe that if this man could diet and prep properly, he will be able to stand with them.
He won’t win.
Thats still my opinion. I also think the poster is going to look bigger by shedding some fat.
I think the diet and prep is going to be tougher than the training.
He is currently the size/weight (or actually smaller) that the guys are… But they’re in comp shape and he isn’t! His arms etc would practically disappear if he were to get shredded now…
They may be far from anything approaching big, but they practically dieted down and ended up at at his current off-season weight or so.
Diet and prep is always tough… But he better get it on with the training and get fucking strong YESTERDAY.
If he would give himself more time, he could actually come in bigger than most there… As long as he gains enough strength on his key-exercises…
At his size, gains come fast even if one doesn’t do absolutely everything right. He just needs enough time to take advantage of that, because “fast gains” still doesn’t mean “comp. ready tomorrow”.
SHEE-IT! Germ could take the Olympia this year! Such bravado would be acceptable from some on Waylanders caliber but this queef (a vaginal fart) come on! I don’t want to get into a faggy “well whatchu got willis?” argument. Its as plain and simple as apple pie. He’s to small, when he cuts he will loose size, he will not make a ripple. Must win, no other option: Come on. What is he going to down a bottle of Lunestas when he gets his ass handed to em? The forum is trying to get a true bonafide bodybuilding cat down, I guess.
Humorous how this has started to evolve from straight talk and solid advice into we are all crushing a motivated individuals dreams.
Reality is tough to accept but reality remains regardless if we were to all have disagreed with the OPs choice to compete but simply never responded to this thread he still would have been better served not entering and just eating, sleeping and training for a few yrs wether we opined or not he is still to small and wether anyone thinks we rained on his parade the truth still remains the truth.
I certainly don’t think anything badly about the OP, I think these types of threads can get damn negative,… sometimes younger, or newer trainers just lack the proper perspective. Hell, I remember the guys in my old college gym who I thought were huge enough to compete with Haney,… in hind site, they were probably a massive 200 lbs, and nowhere near the condition to compete with anyone on a pro stage.

I have to second this one; when you look the guys who compete in person, you have a better idea how far away you are.
Man, Kam Gallman is insane. If you look closely, in some photos you can see he isn’t that thick, but still he looks so full and complete for a 6’2" MIDDLEWEIGHT! I can only imagine what he’d look like at “only” 230. Sick. He almost turned pro too. Has a good chance this year. To the
OP: either start dieting, and taking steroids now and compete in a smaller show to get your feet wet, or get serious, wait a few years and really bring it at the state championship.

Well, your massive overly-muscular obliques may make it hard for you.

What? You’re bound to get first… with all of your lower back muscles… “bumpers.”
While I don’t think you have enough time to prepare properly and I think that choosing a smaller show to try to win isn’t the best reason for competing, I say go for it.
I don’t think you will do very well but for me it was always a battle against myself - I could give a sh!t less if I bring home a trophy…maybe your desire is in the right place but your motivation and attitude is way off…
I always hear people in the crowds talking negatively about competitors when they don’t have what it takes to go through that kind of hell (it’s a lot easier to sit in the crowd than to stand on stage) - so if you go through with it and compete then you can at least say you tried which is more than a lot of people can say!!!
