Must Win, No Other Option

Genetics… Of course. BUT in my opinion it also boils down to strength. Tom and Chris workout together, they are both 5’10 at 200 pounds with the same exact BF of 8%. Tom Bench’s the 140 pound dumbbells 5x5 while Chris has been stuck at the 125’s for 5x5 and the same goes for about all of their other lifts you name the lift Tom is pushing more weight. Who do you think is going to have a more impressive physique?

The one with the better-looking muscle-bellies/structure.

Actual strength has nothing to do with it if both are the same weight/height/bf etc. It just means that Chris doesn’t need to be as strong as Tom in order to be the exact same size, or maybe he started out much weaker or what have you.
Genetics again.

The difference in strength at the beginning of serious training vs. strength today/at your best/whatever is what caused the difference in size…
Whether you had to go from curling the 15’s for 8 to curling the 70’s for 8 in order to get a certain bicep size or from curling the 25’s for 8 to the 100’s for 8 or whatever… Completely individual with an insane amount of factors involved.

And last but not least, it could also mean that Tom has a bigger chest than Chris… But somewhere else, he’s probably weaker (maybe he has smaller arms/crappy arm attachments?).

To the OP, good luck whatever you decide to do!

Sorry buddy I really think strength is the x factor in which two individuals look better when they have the same body comp. It’s from my expereince and if you look into it more you’ll find it within your experiences in Germany as well.

But you could twist the argument and say that individual is stronger because he’s genetically more gifted. And read my post Tom is stronger in every lift not just chest. (for you saying tom may just have a bigger chest).

Muscle shape, joint size and structure, width of shoulders and even waist size have much more to do with it.

Two guys could have the exact same composition, but it really does boil down to who is put together better.

Flex Wheeler was not the strongest bodybuilder, but I doubt too many around could beat him when he was full on.

Ummm Flex Wheeler was full on many times and was beat many times by the stronger King Coleman.

Wait… so…

“I doubt too many around could beat him when he was full on”

is proven wrong by

“THIS ONE AWESOME DUDE RONNIE COLEMAN MULTIPLE TIME MR OLYMPIA BEAT HIM A LOT”

Yes you soft fuck get out of here

You guys are insane.

The Ronnie coleman / Flex Wheeler comparison isn’t fair. Ronnie is one beast of a human being. He competed in the 290’s towards the end of his reign. He was not “of the same proportions” of Flex.

Look at this year’s Arnold. If we’re going by strength, Johnnie Jackson and Branch Warren should have took 1st and 2nd. Branch is a big dude and strong as hell. Hes the man, but he just isn’t put together as well as bodybuilders with the genetics to hold better proportions.

Exactly. I doubt there are very many people who truly think Ronnie was put together better than Flex Wheeler.

Ronnie was bigger and overall more impressive, but seriously, if you had a choice to look like either one of them, you would pick Ronnie?

I wanted to say something about germ. When he cuts up, his waist is going to look very small and he’s going to look much wider as a result.

It might not be a bad idea to compete and plan on doing a proper bulk after its done.

It definately cannot kill him and will let him know what he needs to do next time.

@djrobins

Everything else is going to look smaller too though. His arms don’t even look impressive at this point. What do you think competition weight is going to do? Make them even smaller…

I see competing now only being a bad experience for him.

Completely. There are way too many know it alls on the T-Nation. How many are actually competitive bodybuilders or powerlifters? You can probably count em on one hand around here. Lets see some guys start showing a pic or two to go with all this knowledge, haha, yeah exactly most of these cats cant do that.

They will however be the first to tell what is and isn’t possible and how your training and diet is soo flawed, cause they read and article by some guru that said so. My ears are open to the cats with the photos and the experience to match the advice however. I’m not gonna listen to faceless, 165lb cats however, so keep it at home unless you got the beef to back it up please…[/quote]

I agree with that

If you enter for the exp. have fun !

if your entering to win… prepare to not but hell least you tried … best of luck.

Entering “for the experience” is just a cop-out for pussies.

I would consider entering for the experience and losing being a bad experience… but that’s just me.

40 guys enter at a weight, you have one winner. Its not good odds, especially for the first time. Its a judged event, so you will never win every time… I don’t see why not.

3 months is not time to do much of anything except make minor improvements, even with drugs, nutrition and balls to the wall training all being accounted for.

Why rush? Take a year off, maybe even take two, come back and blow everyone off stage. “Crush your enemies, see them driven before you” and all that.

Playing baseball “for the experience” is fun, but nothing quite beats smashing a fucking ball out of the park, now does it?

All I wanted to add were that the Kam pictures were amazing. Nothing short of amazing genetics.

To the OP, I’ve never competed or planned to compete in bodybuilding, but I don’t think it takes a Prof X or a CT to say that you won’t win – and if you HAVE to win, then you’ve got to add (AND cut) a great deal more to win a competition like this.

I’m not sure if this is novice or not, but this would be your competition had you competed last year http://www.dotphoto.com/GuestViewAlbum.asp?AID=5375011
