Music - What's Good?

hey, the workout music posts inspired me to see if there is any chance there could be an ongoing topic of new music, bands or performers that you have come across recently that blew your f$%king mind, and that you would like to stroke and praise to the other T-Men and T-Women out there.

I am always on the lookout for some new stuff to listen to (of all genres), and I’d wager I’m not alone on this…

Or am I…

Muse
www.muse-official.com
Go to the US website - you can preview their ENTIRE album.
They are very radioheadish, but more in the sense of ‘damn, that could have been a radiohead song’ as opposed to ‘wow, that IS a radiohead song, with some different lyrics’. Anyway, I think the album’s pretty sweet, no songs that drop the ball.

Try Dropkick Murphys . They are like a punk/irish/boston band. Very good for the gym or at the pub

I must second Muse, they have been pretty massive here in the UK for a few years.

ok, screw all that pussy radiohead crap. If you’re into heavy metal listen to IN FLAMES.

Good music, straight from Minnesota, is Atmosphere, Brother Ali, and Eyedea and Abilities. Different from what has been said so far, but some powerful stuff.

SlIpKnOt!!! they rule! hardcore nu Metal check out the new album called volume 3, the Subliminal Verses

Well this is a more classically oriented fella , but you might want to try and have a listen .

Keith Jarrett is the name , he’s played some great solo piano concerts the most famous one being the Koln Concert . People usually listen to it and go , hmm that’s nice , until I tell them it’s completely improvised ,after which their jaws drop to the ground .

In case your thinking anything that’s completely improvised can’t be any good , this should change your view on the subject .

lol never heard anyone call radiohead pussy music before! if you want something heavier that is still musical, try stabbing westward. the darkest days album is best i think.

I want you to check out number 5, Stockholm Syndrome, on the Muse album (Absolution) you can listen to on their website and tell me what you think. Just interested in how close it comes to your approval… : )

you’re all way off base.
for truly heavy muzak try Superjoint Ritual- Philip Anselmos side band.

Some of my friends have their album coming out. They are called KILLJAY. They are heavy too. I haven’t heard it yet but they recorded it in Biloxi,MS a few weeks ago.

I dunno, I’ve never been too impressed by In Flames. They’re definitely worth checking out (in particular, their album Clayman). Slipknot…well, if that’s the sort of thing you like, I guess you’d like 'em. They’re not for me.

Anyway, if you’re looking for some heavier stuff, I’d definitely suggest checking out Lacuna Coil, Iced Earth, Division (www.divisionusa.com), Nightwish, Into Eternity, Devin Townsend, Kyuss, Dream Theater, Annihilator, Amon Amarth, Death, Opeth, Crowbar, At the Gates, Arcturus, Nile, My Dying Bride, Therion, or Evoken. Anyone who wants more recommendations is welcome to PM me.

The best modern rock band out there right now is Breaking Benjamin. It’s not even close.

Check out Pilot to Gunner, they are a badass alt band. And A Wilhelm Scream are a pretty good punk band. Also, check out the Bronx, they are good hardcore. These three bands are pretty much unheard of. I second Ultrafilter, Kyuss is bad as fuck, but I like QOTSA better.

Disturbed
Godsmack
Hatebreed
Pantera
Nirvana - scentless apprentice
Manowar
Rammstein
Slayer
System
Mushroomhead

As for Muse I own absolution, there good but I dont listen to them for workouts, stockholm syndrome is good but its not that angry or loud compared to the happy RAGE and energy in some of the above bands songs.

I like the nice bit of soft music every now and again but lately I cant stop listening to metal.

KMFDM, Against All Authority and alexisonfire are all fast and heavy and are completely different from anything else that is out there. my all-time favourite workout music would have to be bad religion’s ‘no control’

i checked out Muse, and I really dig what I heard, but they don’t sound like radiohead as far as what I can hear.

I agree JoeBob, QOTSA is un-f%$king believeable. I dug Kyuss in a big way but I can’t seem to get the new QOTSA disk out of my player (maybe it’ll get a rest once I get the new Velvet Revolver disc).

My contribution has got to be a metal band called Acid Bath. These guys are intense. Give em’ a spin.

Ultrafilter - Into Eternity is from my town. They kick ass - no foolin’.

p.s. I’m gonna try this Kieth Jarret stuff, too.

I second Breaking Benjamin!!!

Richard Simmons “Sweating to the Oldies” really gets me going. Next month the Remix album will hit stores nation wide.
