Check these out:1)Black Rebel Motorcycle Club,2)Franz Ferdinand,3)Gomez,and of course,The Darkness.

50 Cent, no doubt…seriously, that shit gets me soooo hype when i’m liftin, try some of his older stuff if you can find it. A little less hip-hop and more hard, some of his rhymes on the older tracks are nuts.

If you don’t want to go that way, try Mars Volta, At the Drive In, Korn, Tool, or Perfect Circle

Lata…

Queens Of The Stone Age is what’s good. I bought two of their cd’s, and I have been listening to them for about three months straight. They kick so much ass. At least buy “Songs For The Deaf,” it is their best stuff. I’m glad to see there are a few QOTSA fans out there.

QOTSA are awesome I have seen them twice so far. I cant really see lifting to them though.

HEre are some of my favorites…Terrorizer, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Dag Nasty, D.I., Bad Brains,Breakdown, Negative Approach, Warzone…old school baby!

I regularly listen to the following on my minidisc player:

Rammstein
Slayer
Nightwish
Apocalytica
Deftones
Nine inch nails
System of a down
Strapping Young Lad/other Devin Townsend projects
Queens of the stone age
Black Sabbath

Qotsa are the shit! They came to town and played. Their show was just under two hours long. They played everything on Songs for the Deaf, and a lot of stuff off of R. Danny Carey of Tool was the guest drummer. That dude is like a fucking Octopus. His new band The Pigmy Love Circus is heavy as hell. If anyone likes the Melvins, check out PLC they fucking rock.

How bout:

Rage against the Machine!

And Mettalica!

While they’re not new at all, the new Bad Religion cd, The Empire Strikes First is a great album. Alot of uptempo songs for working out with thought provoking lyrics (if that’s your thing.) Also good would be Black Flag. Quick, agressive songs. Plus many of the Black Flag albums have Henry Rollins doing vocals. For something new I suggest A Thousand Falling Skies [http://athousandfallingskies.com]. Agressive hardcore sort of in the vein of Hatebreed. They have a new cd coming out on 27 July 2004. Good stuff.

G G G G G G G-UNIT!!!. ALL THERE SHIT BANGS. LLYOD BANKS NEW SHIT IS OFF THE HOOK. YOU WANT SOMETHING THAT GETS YOU GOING, PICK UP HIS NEW SHIT, “HUNGER FOR MORE”

Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers. May not be the best 1RM-type stuff but it is really good to have American rock back!

Re: Bad Religion - ‘the empire strikes first’ is (like all of their albums) really good, but ‘no control’ and ‘process of beleif’ have o lot more energy - another good band is The Deviates.

Ah…America’s obsession with rock and metal. I prefer gangster rap or British dance music. The dance music really elevates your mood, especially combined with thermogenics. Not an aggressive/violent rock buzz but more a ecstasy type feeling with good energy. Try The Ministry of Sound, Gatecrasher, or Cream compilations, or anything by Paul Oakenfold.
As for Hip-hop, Old beastie boys, 50cent or D-12’s latests get me going. As a concession to you rock guys, try The Rollins Band’s ‘Come in and Burn’ or ‘Nice’.

crouching tiger… nice to hear ya like Keith Jarrett… i saw him perform at Carnegie Hall a few years back. love his music… others = Terje Rypdal (whack experimental guitar player), Miles Davis (esp the Blue record), Coltrane (Love Supreme), Stravinsky (The Rites of Spring, The Firebird), Bela Bartok (one of my favorite composers), Lisa Germano (Happiness, Love Circus, Slide), Idaho (my favorite band of all time – best records = Levitate, Hearts of Palm, Alas), Beth Orton, Lori Carson, Golden Palominos, American Music Club, Mark Eitzel, The Replacements, Paul Westerberg, Luna, Paul Weller, The Smiths, Tori Amos (anything by her is brilliant), I could go on and on…

I’m surprised it got as far as Roman before Rage and Metallica were mentioned! Right on Roman. Also one song you might wanna check out is “Open Your Eyes” by Guano Apes, the rest of their stuff I don’t like but that song is great! Also some good techno is good Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Crystal Method, etc.

heh, strapping young lad. I wouldn’t think anyone would be listening to that. If Strapping Young Lad is your idea of good workout music, try listening to some Black Dahlia Murder, It will make you want to transform into a werewolf.

I forgot, on leg day I listen to the Carpenters, Barry Manilow, or Kenny G. That shit will really fire you up!!!
