Mr. Olympia 2011

Protein sales aside (I’m pretty sure Jay sells for himself now anyway not anyone else), there is no denying Phil won last night. If the same is true tonight, and if Kai improves in day two, Jay should get 3rd. Maybe 4th if Vic hardens up too.

Dude, Kia looked 10x better on saturday last year and the year before. If jay doesn’t get his shit together, he is doomed tonight IMO.

He had a good run, and can promote the sport as a former multi-time winner. No need to toss him a brisket he doesn’t deserve because it may sell 200 more tubs of sugar powder.

In short I agree with Matt. I’d be the first to give congrats to Jay if he came in like 09, but he didn’t. And if he tore his bi, well, that sucks balls.

There are too many factors at play here. With everything Jay does for the bodybuilding industry/ public image of bodybuilding, I don’t see them shafting him.)
I keep seeing people say this.

What is Jay doing for the public image of bodybuilding that this is why he needs to win again?
I thought the point was clear. He does public appearances etc and is well known. He sells more supplements than anyone. We’re talking about a lot of revenue here. Can Phil Heath do the same? Maybe, but why risk it.
OK…I haven’t seen that many public appearances.

I am not sure how youtube hits factor into this directly considering the reasons some people could be watching.
From following him on Facebook, it appears as though he travels around quite a bit making appearances all around the world.
He does and he has a bigger fan base world wide then any other bodybuilder past or present save for Arnold of course. I follow him on Facebook and twitter and it’s clear he hardly spends any of his off season at home. He has probably done more traveling in the last 2 years then most former Mr Olympias did in there entire career. He also seems to have alot of business venues going on outside of competing like his clothing line for example.

I didn’t even know over 500,000 people knew who Mr Olympia was until i started following Jay on Facebook. The only other bodybuilder that even comes close in fan base is Ronnie and his fan base is still considerably smaller then Jays.

I can already here people saying ya but that’s because Jay has been Mr Olympia during the Facebook era that’s why he has so many fans. Well Dorian has almost 200,000 fans and his reign ended long before the MySpace/Facebook/twitter era. The other argument is the only reason they have such a large fan base is because they won Mr Olympia well if that’s true then 8 time Mr Olympia Lee Haney would have more then 6,000 followers and Dexter Jackson who still competes every year would have more then 12,000.

Would Phils fan base explode and rival Cutlers if he won?

Would Phil spend the overwhelming majority of his off season traveling around the world promoting?

Maybe though i doubt it.

Phil looks AWESOME. Reminds me of Flex, lets hope the bo-shit doesn’t happen again.

Phil looks amazing…damn. He’s got the shape and his conditioning is on point. Kai doesn’t really have the shape but man, when he starts tuning in those poses he’s a breathing work of art.

Victor looked awesome and I think he could hold his weight against Phil IF he could get his conditioning to that level. You can notice it when comparing their chest and abs - Phil just has both the form and texture.

I agree he shouldn’t repeat this year i mean how do you come back overnight from a bicep strain? You can’t.

Although interestingly enough while Phil was the clear victor while i was watching the webcast in high def. Now that I’m examining the pictures posted of the comparisons Cutler doesn’t look nearly as shitty as he did on the webcast and Phil loses some of his 3 dimensional wow factor he has when you watch him pose on video.

Do judges get to examine the pictures of prejudging and base anything off of them or do they only get to watch them pose om stage?

Hey, QB… why the hate? LOL

I think Phil as Mr O would be great for the sport. Consider the guy was once a great basketball player. BBing’s public image could improve.
What hate? I keep saying I want Heath to win. I’m also listing a few reasons why it’s reasonable to think the Olympia judges will disappoint us again.
Ronnie lost the O to Jay because his left lat had atrophied and thrown off his symmetry. Ronnie is the most well know and famous BBer of all time. If jay could take the title from Ronnie in such a fashion there is absolutely no reason that they would let Jay retain the title “just because” given significant delt, bicep and leg symmetry issues that are more apparent than in any year previous. Espeically with Phil at his all time best.

There is way too much emphasis put on politics in this sport when no one in here has any idea if that’s the case. The fact that people on here think they have an insiders look into the politics of the sport and what the judges are thinking is asinine.
I don’t see Jay winning his fifth O tonight because of his right quad, left bi and left delt but I still can’t see him dropping out of top two even if Vic and Kai look better. I still haven’t seen him side by side with Vic yet either. Ronnie didn’t drop out of the top 2 until he’d lost his first 0. I don’t know, I guess we’ll see tonight.
I agree, I don’t think he will drop further than second place. Vics gut looks terrible, very apparent in his MM shots, it is superrrrrr wide. Not a fan of what he’s done.

Victors waist looks god awful, it looked extremely distended when he was relaxing during the live feed and is very noticeable in the MM especially. He’s a wide guy and his waist is as wide as his shoulders.

Same deal in the side shot, the distension is getting out of hand. I have no idea how he is able to make the issue disappear in front doublr bi shot, props to him lol

Just for the sake of not talking about jay or phil, i’d like to point out how ridiculous johnnie jackson’s traps are. jesus christ.

Ya man best traps of anyone. He also deadlifts without it leading to a blocky waist hmmm

??

His waist has gone up quite a bit from when he was fresh on the scene. He used to have a 'wasp waist".

I respect Johnny a lot and can appreciate his trap development. I just know most guys that big will notice a slightly larger waist no matter what…because that is what is carrying all of that muscle around.

It also isn’t a big deal at all until people start acting like “GH did it”.

Johnny’s waist doesn’t look like this anymore…nor should it.

With all the hating on people with blocky waists, how about some props to Vic for having one hell of a classic taper in the front dbl.

(Not directed at you, X, just at all the blocky waist talk in the thread)

Jay could still win it. You have to knock out the champ when it comes to the Mr. O, being a little better won’t cut it. If Jay makes it close tonight he could retain the title.

I am hoping, really hoping, that Vic does well. That dude has been through some real shit lately over the last few years and if he could pull it together, denying him the placing would suck.

I’m just saying a waist like Jay’s isnt because he deadlifts it’s more genetic. He goes up to 315 and that’s it I doubt that’s enough to lead to his waist being like it is. Then on the other hand centopani does sets with 495 and his waist isnt what would be considered blocky.

I hope vic does well too. 3rd or fourth. I got him over Kai, fighting for third with Wolf.

I didn’t say it was because he deadlifts. I said his waist has always been big. In general, simply being that size will force a larger waist.

Johnny Jackson is a prime example of someone whose waist is a little bigger and it is NOT because of genetics. It may just have something to do with how he trains and his overall body size.

deadlifts are not the best exercise to focus on if you already have a really wide waist.

I’m gonna sound really stupid for asking this. Are Johnie Jackson and Dexter Jackson related?

^No.

I think synthol is the problem, not tearing the bicep…

Jay said he tore it 3 weeks ago but the bruise only showed up yesterday…

But bicep looked fine 3days out…

I dont know how much can be done to fix synthol in 24 hours?

I want to see Rockel next to Dexter… imo Rockel is better
