Mr. Hammond, the phones are working...

What’s up Spock!
Had a browse through your log and it’s damn impressive - well done on the results you have achieved and the results you will no doubt continue to achieve long into the future =)

ps SVU and Bob Dylan rule

…and I expect video of the faceplants.

Beef!!! Get big food!!!

Funny story: (kinda?)

The owner of the gym where i train, Mark Rippetoe, often walks around the gym eating piles of meat out of a bowl. Often caveman style. The first question asked when someone’s numbers are suffering is how much meat are you eating? Technique questions come second. Lol not that great of a story, but you constantly mentioning beef reminds me of that.

Bottom line, eat beef!!
Rippetoe owns your gym? Awesome!

Nice lifting girlie…remember, there are 3 kinds of people in the world: those that are good at math, and those that arent!

Yeah man. Done wonders for my squat. Even converted me to Oly shoes from Chucks. The place is pretty much amazing.

SPOCK!!!

Hi.

Anywho.

Nothing to add at the moment, other than keep up the great work

GREAT WORKOUT!!! FIIIIIIIIIIYYYYAAA!! :)!!!

Hello everyone. I thank you all for the positive comments about my happy lifting-ness.

And here we go again!

Lifting-ness:

3 x 3 Deadlift day

160 x 3
180 x 3 ← added belt just to get a feel for it before my AMRAP set
200 x 8 ← Belt as tight as possible and for the first time in my life I properly pushed out against it. Form was imperfect (as always), but I felt very strong instead of all struggaly. Also, this is +1 rep since the last time I did this weight. OH LASTLY, I farted on the third rep and was concerned I would fart on every rep afterwards, but I did not.
220 x 3 ← Video of this in the powerlifting section asking for form advice. If anyone is interested I urge you to check it out and all that jazz.
165 x 10 Sumo-ed

BBB Squats
100 x 10
100 x 10
100 x 10
100 x 10
100 x 10

Not looking forward to next cycle when this will be 105, ha.

Good mornings
65 x 8
75 x 8
85 x 8
95 x 8 ← possibly sloopy

I am doing this arched back type good morning because I saw someone give advice in the PL section to someone who also had ugly deadlifting form (similar to mine).
Sorry Koubanator, I totally chickened out on the seated good mornings again, ha! SOMEDAY, I SWEAR!!

UMM lying leg curl, five sets

hanging leg raises 1 set of 25. Finally some nice burn with that.

5 pull ups because I didn’t want to have to do them at home and I was being manic, heh.

DONE

Semi-happy because I felt stronger on my DL, but semi-sad because it’s still not beautiful. Though I did realize that my AMRAP sets probably all look somewhat ugly.

I love 5/3/1 so much I could just vomit.

K BYE TTYL

Hey hey HEY!! NICE deads  Keep up the stellar work!

WOW!!! Spcok you are annihilation it!! GREAT deads!!!

You are incredibly talented!!! Way to go!!! :D!

It’s ok. I won’t dog you…YET! lol

Umm, i don’t see the video in here spock! Put it in here as well. Pretty please. By the way your deads are already improving, just keep on improving them.

Listen to what storm said, that was similar to advise that i got from mauraudermeat. It makes alot of sense that if you aren’t tight enough you can round back a little and be on your toes among other things. Which is probably why i’ve had so much trouble locking out my deadlift.

Here’s what mm had to say for me:
it appears to me that you are locking out your legs way too soon and then your lower back is left to do all the work and it fatigues before you can lock out the weight.

you need to work on your setup. set your hands, take in a breath to your belly, brace your abs and PULL youself down to the bar. don’t just passively drop to the bar. if you do it properly you will be in the perfect place to start from and you will be really tight. then pull the slack out of the bar and pull the bar BACK into your shins. this will put the weight on your heels. doing these things will make it almost impossible to let the weight get in front of you and your hips to rise too soon creating the problem you are having
But it isn’t about me. Speed pulls definitely help increase your force output which can help you get through sticking points faster(also what sprints, and jumping helps with as well) also the more force you can generate the stronger you are. They also give you more practice, and there is alot of evidence out there that the more hours practicing something generally the better you will be at it.

Getting your air in at top is much easier and you can get more in as well. Slowly pulling yourself down with your hamstrings should help pull slack out of bar creating more tightness just like storm said. Key is to force yourself down by pulling, not just simply dropping down. Which is what i was doing all to easily.

I found this song, it is sooooo relaxing. Listen to this and don’t lose any sleep over the deads tonight. Just teasin a little but it is a nice relaxing song though.

Hey girl-I tried to see your video but sometimes my computer hates youtube. Looks like you got great advice though, nice!

I thought of ya cause I started taking digestive enzymes because my stomach constantly hates me from the amount of fiber i throw down my throat… I know we’ve discussed you having the same problems–after taking these I don’t feel as like, rumbly.

Anyway-strong work as usual!

Nice lifting, Spock. If the BBB squats feel sufficiently hard at the weight they’re at (100), I’d leave them there next cycle. They’re assistance work. Leave them as such. Hard enough to make you feel like you’re working but not hard enough to burn yourself out.

Heracles_rocks: YEAH! I am excited to try out this new faster deadlifting/breathing better approach. I sometimes I hate learning stuff the day AFTER deadlifting because I get so ancy to try new stuff out. Now I have to wait a week :/.

OKAY VERY AWESOME LIFTING NEWS, WHY? ← Hmm, I should start talking in Sign Language grammer format

Me excited, why? (Eye brows up to indicate rhetorical question) Really awesome lifting news, wow. Happy.:

MMkay, done with that

3 x 3 Military press day

55 x 3
60 x 3
65 x 9 <— YAY
Decided I felt strong and did a couple heavy triples
70 x 3
75 x 3 ← More than I got last cycle for my 5/3/1 week! Horrahh for obvious improvements!

5 sets of 5 pull ups inbetween

BBB Bench
Could not remember is I did 80lbs or 85lbs so I decided more weight is better, heh.
85 x 10
85 x 10
85 x 10
85 x 10
85 x 10
Paused first and last rep
OMGGGG DOVEOFWAR I LOVE YOUR BENCHING STYLE!! This was the strongest most leg drivey-est I have ever felt benching.
Truly a wonderful experience. My benching has been forever changed for the better.

One arm NG DB press
30 x 8
30 x 8
30 x 8
30 x 9
Next cycle I shall attempt the 32.5’s.

Uhh Latpull down supersetted with a different grip on the lat pull down, I dunno
standing ropey cable abs, millon sets
AWFUl barf worthy biceps, worst 10 minutes of my week. I do not even know why, I just effing hate doing THEM.

One set of some 50 rep bent overy rear delt latty raise stuff

WHATEVER
DONE

Active rest day tomorrow and maybe the day after as well if I can stand it, but knowing me I’m sure I’ll be ready to explode with lifting excitement come sunday at 9am sharp.

Life News:
I had a dream about Lego last night, and it was awesome.

hey man, don’t leave me hanging here.

Am I not manly enough? Eat some mushrooms if you want to feel like a guy. I was told they make you grow chest hair.

I’ve always heard eating olives will do that. I avoid those things like the plague
