Nah man, we know nothing… if u wanna get hyuuuge you gotta use the smith machine, it’s the way to go. It’s soooooo much better for doing the squat, cannot really think of a better piece of equipment. Gotta start deadlifting using it and see how that goes
judging from your avatar you really should just get under some kind of bar, regardless.
i hope youre a troll just because if you arent human kind is ultimately doomed.
Dude, fuck progress, he’s been training for 3 years, he KNOWS what he’s talking about.
10 bucks says he chimes in and blames his lack of progress on his soccer ambitions. [/quote]
too freakin bad that the pic u guys r talking about was taken in 2008 and while I know that there is PLENTY of room for improvement in my physique (‘we are all works in progress’- Professor X)I gotta say that, if anything, my ‘soccer ambitions’ helped me in learning what discipline is and that hard work, be it on the pitch or in the gym, always pays off. Refrain from talking cause you know nothing about me
This actually is the best thread on this forum atm, as it finally exposes the elephant in the room (in the Bb forum) and I’m grateful I didn’t need to be involved.
What some of you guys (fellow vets) don;t understand is - when noobs turn up we point them to a rippetoe 3x5 , a stronglifts 3 x 5 or the beginner’s forum. In either case, these noobs get inundated by the “anti-machines, free weights to the end brah” sentiment perpetuated by Rippetoe and other “coaches”. Now such a sentiment is obviously a good idea for a rank noob, but these kids never grow out of their pottie-training pants and start posting on the BB forum assuming that some of the axioms they were injected with in the beginner’s forum are STILL valid on this forum.
They are not…assuming your goal is bodybuilding. If you want to stick with the “you MUST squat or you’re a pussy”, and “machines are for pussies”, you may need to reconsider your hobby and post on another forum.
When you begin studying the numerals in KG you not introduced to decimals, or negative numbers…and obviously it takes a LOOONG while before people dare to tell a near-adult you that YES! you CAN take the square root of a negative number…there’s a reason people set restrictions on your understanding as you begin the journey. For thats the way of inductive teaching, as you are led deeper and deeper into the forest, hand-held until someday you find yourself alone and facing uncharted territory.
To be honest, we need a “bodybuilding initiation” thread of sorts where some of the misconceptions these kids gained in the “kindergarten” forums (which are imo necessary at that stage) are dispelled and they can gain a fresh outlook more suitable for a bodybuilding endeavour,

I took a wild shot in the dark and guessed right, who would have thought?
Anyone who took that bet owes me $10. I believe we are all capable of following the honor system.

Disc pillows.
At least that’s what the internet tells me they’re called. I thought it was some sort of gelatinous frisbee. When it first appeared in my gym I took a few moments to poke it with my foot, you know, just to make sure it was dead.

Nooo, thats the one I use. It’s nice and red and yellow and it’s better than using a dumbell.

Lol how do you get up there? Man, I would not want to go all out on that machine and with wobbly legs have to crawl, jump, or however you get down from there… that could be some bad times.

I want one too, sucks resting plates on your feet and trying to work your Anteriors.

Ah… What do people use that for? Is it just a fancy seat cushion?
The Vagina Press
the EZ bar
More than anything on these forums, I hate people who act like it’s somehow “HARDCORE” to refrain from any type of machines, or isolation exercises for that matter. Guess what guys? Every huge dude I’ve seen in my gym has used machines. That includes the smith machine. Oh, they also do isolation excercises.
You know that Hammer Strength seated chest press that has you at a 90 degree angle to the floor? The one that you use and for the next week it feels like your shoulders are being torn out of their sockets by ghosts?
The machine that nobody goes near, and just collects dust or gets used to rack extra plates? Those things are useless, and I donâ??t understand why almost every gym has one, because Iâ??ve never even seen a trainer put a person on one.

my gym has 3 hammer strength seated bench presses.
they all are in constant use
why?
because every guy at my gym loves training chest and they love doing it half assed.
which is probaly why at peak hours theres 20+ guys around and only 4 or 5 are actually big, by anyone’s standards.

That!
lol! An ab workout machine, you pretty much play basketball while doing simple sit-ups.
what a waste of machine making skills
And guess what? there is 2 of them at my GYM

does it take tokens and give you tickets you can claim for rad prizes?
The pink dumbbell rack in my gym that only goes up to 6kg. Other than high rep and high volume shoulder raises for girls and older trainees, I can’t see any other uses for them.
