I dunno - just seems kind of spurious to deem him an incompetent medical professional based on that.

I’m sure you know your stuff HT, but in this case you seem so eager to “get” him that you’re really reaching to find him at fault just because he didn’t snap out the exact course of treatment you would agree with.
Agreed. I was hoping this entire board could put all this “I hate X” bullshit behind and get back to relative normality but this thread has proven that hasn’t happened.

And normally, BG has some of the most insightful posts on these boards but I think he’s gone nuts in this thread.

no, I am a nurse, work in a regional trauma center, certifed in acls, tncc, pals, enpc, fc, fmicn, phals, blah-blah.

as far as “knowing my shit” i guess it is fair to say, as a nurse, it is not knowing as much as DOING.

I can’t give the pathophysiology of why we do many of the things we do, it is just I see it done and do it a certain way thousands and thousands of times.

not sure if that made sense or not…

An ER nurse-practitioner I believe.
not a nurse practitioner, but I am certified in a lot of advanced practice stuff, like flight care, trauma, pediatric emergency, advanced cardiac life support, advanced pre hospital life support, ect.

funny how one of my posts got edited out. this has happened more than once with me arguing with X. good to be the king hmmm?

I’m a little bit upset that my super awesome post where I quoted BG has been glossed over several pages ago but I will repost it if need be…

I think HeavyThrower is seriously trolling this thread and Professor X. Either that or he is a complete fucking idiot… Still not sure which?

I do. Though I don’t like saying I suck heads around people that probably don’t know what that means.

here, Ill put it like our good lord and master would put it…

“let me spell this out in red crayon”!!! wait, that should have been in caps…

I actually asked that question, to shut a lot of the X haters up. Some Dentists are highly qualified and skilled oral surgeons, I knew one, and old lifting buddy started out as a Dentist, he also was an oral surgeon with a medical degree, got tired of having to deal with the headaches of managing an entire office of employees and decided he wanted to be an anesthesiologist.

he already had a medical degree, so all he had to do was go through residency, and boom, he started practicing anesthesiology.

but X misread my post, and then started with the insults (as usual) the pot calling the kettle black…

that is what started this. my part at least.

thanks for the bump

Its this bs that we need to get rid of on this site.

I know I haven’t been here as long as many but with all the bs bickering, you’ll be the only ones left.

If X says he’s a dentist a dr or an oral surgeon - WHO CARES? This is the internet!!! The only people, that should care are people in the profession. Can’t you deal with that via PM?

I don’t agree with the BG’s OP. I don’t need to call him names or insult his first born to disagree with him. I also don’t need to shit on his profession to make my point.

just because I am talking about stuff you do not understand does not make me an idiot.

I am confining my comments to things I have a lot of experience with…medical/health care, which in some areas of health care, I am an expert. why this makes you say I am “a complete fucking idioit” is beyond me…but then again… many things are beyond the grasp of complete fucking idiots.

If you are the victim of a severe trauma in North Cali, which I hope you are not, you might very well need this idiot to save your life. which I would do without hesitation, despite you being a horses ass.

another good point…my first post on this train wreck of a thread was similar.to this post of yours. it got out of hand fast.
I’m the horses ass? You posed a medical scenario question to Professor X. he answered it and you jumped all over his shit about it because he didnt answer it to your liking (even though his answer was correct) and that makes ME the horses ass?
heavythrower wrote:

also to address this part, I do understand what you’re talking about. I have quite a bit of medical experience (mostly with combat truama I.E. GSWs and blast trauma)

So have we agreed that its possible to be middle aged, over 250 lbs while maintaining a good quality of health or is it impossible?

Im genuinely curious now after wading through 18 pages of crap.

And for what its worth(nothing I know lol), I know dentistry over here in Ireland requires the same amount of medical knowledge as a GP as they need to be able to deal with complications. Not sure if X’s training was similar to ours though

He misread your post and then started with the insults? Did you forget that he answered your question (without any insults) and then the following is your response to him
heavythrower wrote:

the fact that you would have sent somebody out of your office in that kind shape with orals and some vicodin…well, I would stop talking about my medical credentials so much…

stick with what you know, dentistry… probably bang your young lady hygenist at will… stop trying to embellish your abilities.
yeah Prof X really started the insults lol

Everyone knows that X and I have gotten into it more than once (i basically started that Best of the Best thread with my posts to him) but this is just straight up bullshit on your part and you know it (or at least you should know it)

Lord knows me and X don’t get along, but I think it’s kind of unrealistic to give out a hypothetical case study over an Internet forum. I mean, it’s pure miscommunication and is likely to be rife with missing information, unclear Dx - plus he hasn’t actually seen the patient.

I get case studies to work on in MNT all the time - it would be preposterous to ask me to do it over a message board with the minimal info given…
Dude, it’s not even that. Does he really believe cellulitis around an infected tooth is a rare occurrence? It really isn’t…AT ALL.

At least 2 patients today have come in with this and at least 5 a week.

These people are ridiculous.
you should be called professor hypocrisy not x,

where did I ever say this was rare??? we get a few abscessed teeth every night in my department, which is medium sized (we see about 50,000 pt a year)

it in not a silly scenario, if he wanted clarification or more details he could have asked. you dudes think I am making shit up…i could have given lab values, full st of vs, I see this shit every night.
?

I said it is rare because you acted like you needed to be in an ER to see it.

Any dentist sees this regularly…yet you claimed that one has to be specifically an oral surgeon to treat it?

Gee, yeah, if the airway is currently obstructed and their life is at risk. Othterwise, you take x-rays, scan it if needed and drain it while putting the pt on antibiotics…and even if they received IV meds, they would STILL need a precription making all of the noise you were talking just that.

I know this field better than you. Deal with it.

I have more knowledge about the human body than just teeth.

Deal with it.
you said: " Does he really believe cellulitis around an infected tooth is a rare occurrence"?

when my first post I said this “people with abscessed teeth are a fairly common in my ED”

again, your hypocrisy is overflowing. You complain of others poor reading comprehension when yours is pretty suspect yourself.

deal with it.
