You ever watch the show the Jersey Shore about young dumbass kids who drink all the time, fuck everything that moves, take any type of med to get them “Jacked”? Well these kind of comments remind me of that show.
hrmm, that’s not what I was trying to say at all
Fair enough, just goes to show that interpretation is a bitch in the English language. My bad. Carry on.

I want to start a drinking game in here. Every time TheBodyGuard says “strawman” ya gotta take a drink.
I think it will improve the thread. Who’s with me?

LOL don’t be so sure of that. I seen your latest pics. You look huge. Fine. But you’re not lean. I’m 240 now and lean. And no - I don’t intend to pic whore with you on this site. Aint my style. I could give a fuck about bodybuilding. But no matter who looks better without the shirt, you can stay at your weight, I’ll stay where I’m at, and we’ll see who can pull more weight. See how that works? It’s pretty fucking irrelevant.

I have no qualms with “extreme” goals or pursuits as you call it. The problem is, your theoretical advice about doing it before your 30’s notwithstanding, is that some of these habits and the body image that comes with it, become life time habits - until there is a health problem. See Dave Tate et als. There is no intelligent debate to refute my basic point; that as you get older, it’s not healthy to carry that weight - whether it’s muscle or fat, your heart works harder. Ask any cardiologist. Ask any doctor.
HaHa. Pics of your massive guns or you’re a hypocrite. You get to suck my dick now.

And as for the thread, Serge Nubret is big fuck off to all the bodybuilding haterz. And that article fucking amazes me on a supposed bodybuilding site. Is EXTREME bodybuilding unhealthy, yes. Is a more sensible approach? Most definately not. A few years of solid bulking and a lifetime of staying healthy at that weight is not going to kill everyone off. The first generation of long term HRT patients is only just starting to die off, and they are in fucking amazing health for the age they are in. At least the ones that eat well and lift are anyway.

He’s like a guy with a 2000 pound gym total. He doesn’t give out advice on cutting for a competition but he knows how to get big. And that’s a pretty big part of it.

How is the fact that he’s never competed relevant to this discussion?

FWIW, H4M gave out great advice before his first meet. In which he totaled elite. Competing isn’t everything.
Youre glossing over the point. Where does the strong desire to have the LABEL attached come from? Thats all this debate breaks down to. Who gets to have the LABEL of ‘bodybuilder’? If competition isnt required than about half of what goes into bodybuilding is removed from the criteria. You dont pose in a gym. You dont manipulate water in a gym. You dont slave away on a stepmill for 20+ hours a week to get down to 5% bodyfat.

You dont eat white fish and broccoli and brown rice 4 times a day for 3 weeks straight just for the fuck of it. Competition is a completely different animal than just getting big and pretty.

The people who say that bodybuilding is done in the gym and the kitchen and not on stage HAVE CLEARLY NEVER COMPETED. OR EVEN BEEN TO A SHOW BEFORE.

There is so much more to competition than just training and eating. Those who say bodybuilding is done in the gym and the kitchen are shitting on the extreme prepartion that is necessary to step on stage. Training and eating is by far the easiest part of bodybuilding. Obviously Im talking from a 3rd person perspective but my opionion is based on coversations with people who compete.

Comparitively speaking, powerlifting requires much less preparation for a competition. Its not a great analogy and weakens the stance of the person who says bodybuilding is more than lifting and eating right.
Powerlifting does require as much preparation for competition at an elite level. All the really fucking strong guys in terms of both bodyweight multiples and raw strength get those numbers by squeezing into weight classes which they easily have 20 or 30 pounds over. To do that takes some serious fucking preparation and a good deal of pain. I don’t want to derail the thread into a PL vs BB slanging match.

The reason why competing is necessary to both call yourself either a bodybuilder or powerlifter are the same. Its all well and good getting some nice numbers on your favourite lifts on separate days, but fucking try doing them all on the same day after dropping weight for weeks and serious water, followed by rehydrating. Plus you have the stress and novelty of the competition environment. Bodybuilding is the same but different.

If you don’t compete at either, you dont have any licence to call yourself either. Can you be big and know your shit, sure, but to call yourself a bodybuilder/powerlifter without putting yourself through the real trials of competition is a bit of disrespect to both sports if you ask me.

Yeah, that’s the rumor that he was poisoned. It’s a shame.

MG, Serge was WELL under 250 pounds for his entire life, so I don’t think he has anything to do with what the OP is stating.

stop arguing fallaciously. I know it’s a lot to ask, but you’re the one butthurt when you feel like your words are misrepresented, so why would you engage in that behavior that so offends you?

It is IMPOSSIBLE to have a serious discussion in these forums without someone building a STRAWMAN (someone take a drink) and misrepresenting your point. Impossible. I argued with lawyers for the last 20 years and even though most of them are lying cheating assholes, I guess I was spoiled because the average person cannot construct an intelligent fucking rebuttal.

If you disagree with me, fine. But at least don’t misrepresent my words to make your point.

The article, and my OP, were not about guys that were the “picture of health”. It’s about those guys that are the perpetual manatees - not the guys bulking to diet down. The guys that look like shit. I added my personal twist about my decision not to carry any extra junk as I age - it wasn’t a declaration that I had plans to get all Brad Pitt.

And finally, it occurred to me that some of you in this thread remind me of that joke about masturbating. In response to being told it would make you blind, they stated they would only do it until they need glasses. Funny joke, but sadly illustrates a basic human weakness - that until we are on the precipice of disaster, we rarely change.

Hopefully, none of you guys that aspire to be hyooge will go blind. Not that I’m seriously worried about most of you getting hyooge. LOL But the vampire dude is definitely in my death pool. And I remain hopeful that X will actually compete. I respect his work. I just don’t like some of the things he writes and I’m sure it’s mutual.

you know I got attacked when I said getting big was unhealthy and that staying very lean whilst adding mass was the best way… Well this article agrees with what is was getting at.

Because, I know what the article said and the message you’re trying to convey here.

I was being a casual observer and being amused by the bi-polar posts on here.

Then, MG posted…

I doubt it was direct at YOU specifically, IH.

The picture of health he may have been, but he died from a stroke, not from being poisoned.
