What type of protein would you suggest using in your shake first thing in the morning?
WPI, Micellar Casein a combination of these maybe something else etc…
This is my first meal of the day.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks again!

Depends.
Do you get a proper breakfast about an hour later, or is this a 1st breakfast substitute?
If this is just to get the protein ball rolling during the day(which is how I use my morning shake) then pure isolate, and save the better protein mix with the casein as part of meal replacements, before workouts, and/or at bedtime.
If however, you are going to want this shake to last 2-3 hours, then, a mix of the isolate(fast) and the casein, or other slower digesting proteins would be best.
How about a combination? Since you’re coming out of a fasting state, I’m sure your body will appreciate a quick supply of amino acids. But at the same time, slow-digesting protein will be useful as well.
Mo, what are your goals and what are your issues or concerns?
Are you bulking, cutting or maintaining?
Do you have a problem in the morning that you’re not really hungry and are forcing yourself to eat, or are you pressed for time?
In general, I’d vote for a whey protein since you’ve been fasting all night and because whey is more quickly/easily digested. Breakfast is the optimal time for a meal, though, including carbs. The two times your body is best able to handle carbs is PWO and breaking a fast (out of bed). It’s an excellent time for a piece of fruit, too.
Just to echo what others have said, you have been fasting for hours when you wake up in the morning, so whey is better than casein, because your body can use it quicker.
Having said that, casein in the morning isn’t going to do you any harm, but I would have my casein before bed, and my whey in the morning (although 4 eggs and bacon is yummy yummy yummy yummy)
