Montreal - Any Good Gyms?

Hi. I know there’s a good bunch of Quebec/Montreal dwellers out here, so I’m wondering if anybody has good gyms to recomend. I’m doing ok with the local YMCA (I volunteer there, so I get the membership for free) and the McGill Varsity gym is cool too, but I’d like to see if there are any better environments out there.

I know of the Rock aka BodyQuest in downtown, Monster Gym looks nice, CEPSUM I haven’t seen but heard it’s pretty decent.
Added bonus if the place has good equipment (various bars GHR reverse hyper sled etc) because right now the only place I know that has an ssb and a ghr is the downtown Y
THANKS!

Pro Gym in the east end is simply massive. I have never been, but everyone tells me it’s got everything you need (someone even told me bumper plates, but I can’t verify this).

It’s where many competitive bodybuilers train.

The atmosphere according to some is very cold, while others prefer this.

Go try it out.

Depends on your need, but Pro gym can definitely cater to all of them, it’s located on Hochelaga, between the Pie IX and Viau, just minutes away from the Olympic Stadium

Cepsum is nice too, but there’s little equipment for O-lifts, lots of machines, and quite a few benches. Don’t recall what the heaviest DB, though.

Drop me a pm if you need more info.

You also have Kardiologik and Fit for life next to DeCastelnau metro, both are very nice gyms.

Fit for life is a little to much crowded because the fees are very low, it’s like 200$ per year but you might have to wait for the machines or benches. Like Zen said, depends what you need and what you want.

Hey Luigi, funny you mention those, I used to have continued education in the building just in front of those gyms! Never been there myself, but is kardiologic well equiped with free weight and squat cage etc? Think a friend of mine told me it’s a bit overhyped. What’s your 2 cents on that?

Well, depends what you mean by overhyped. From my point of view, I did like the place when I went. It’s bigger then when it was “Legends”, because Legends didn’t have the second floor. When the guys from Kardiologik bought the place, they opened up the second floor.

On the point of view of equipment, they have everything you need, lots of weight (i don’t remember how heavy the dumbells are though, but for sure they have them until 150 lbs) the machines, squat rack. Leo Difruscia, a national bodybuilder competitor trains over there, so i guess it’s not that bad.

Are you the same Zen warrior of Vinkormorf.com?

Thanks alot guys! Pro Gym is a tad far considering I’ve got most of what I need a bit closer (I live in NDG).
Cepsum sounds like the Mcgill Gym, and as a student I get membership for 15$/semester. I’m not gonna complain…
And the varsity gym (I’m on the rowing team) has alot of oly platforms and bumpers.
I guess what I’d like to find is something closer to defranco’s facility. Sleds, Bands, Chains, plyo boxes and etc. (my personal career goal is to make a facility like that myself in Montreal. Either that or like peakperformancenyc.com)
Anybody’s seen “Le Bat Cave” in Rosemont (I think)? Thinking of passing by myself.
5420, rue Chapleau
Owned by Yannik Morin (bodybuilder, bobsleigh, track cyclist).

Gym Expert in Verdun has Olympic bumper plates and 2 platforms (aside from a regular gym), if thats the type of thing that interests you.

It’s only about $250 per year.
