So I did the challenge today and had had originally been considering doing it with 135 because…
I’m too lazy to mess with nickles and dimes most of the time
155 seemed like an arbitrary weight to me. (I mean if you’re going to set a weight, keep it simple and make it a plate, if its going to be something other than that, base it on BW)
135 was a similar % of my BW and a similar % of my DL max as 155 was to Molly’s stats.
But then Stronghold called me out so I went for 155. That’s what the challenge called for so that’s how I’ma do it.
I managed 40 reps. It wasn’t as bad as I expected. The first minute went pretty easy. It was the second that was brutal. I usually pull every rep like its a single in training so being able to bang reps out touch-and-go was different. My form definitely didn’t remain as pretty as Molly’s did throughout the entire set, though.
I faked the challenge and got 62. Of course…I didn’t exactly stick to the timeframe. I did them over the course of a 4 minute song. So I guess that means I got 31. Shit.

I don’t know. The other guys got 75% in the first minute so I’ll give you 47.

Yeah. I think its reasonable to assume that you got more than half of them in the first two. I got 31 of my 40 in the first minute. But I also decided to try to pull as many reps as fast as I could before the pain and fatigue set in rather than pacing myself.
You know, I thought about doing this challenge with roughly BW. But that has me pulling from a deficit. Sucks to be small sometimes. And why am I even thinking of doing this? I hate reps and suck at them. It’s that ridiculousness competitiveness.

Which is why you should just work on being awesome and doing it with the rx’d weight like everyone else.

doesn’t have to be from a deficit.
use risers, or mats, or bumper plates.
or 155.
Ahh, you can just tell me to stop my fucking whining.

It’s okay.
Really.
if i thought you were whining i’d tell ya.
promise.
with the way u and i feel about reps, i’ll consider anything over 10 an accomplishment. and then tell you to put some damn weight on the bar.
Iron Cross - No sweat. =D Don’t know when I am coming back. Maybe when I get a second to breathe? I will try to pop in more often though
nlmain - haha well thank you! I know you could smoke it if you tried it… you do have at least 70 lbs on my best deadlift! Keep it up dear!
Buckeye - 40 reps is great! And you are right… the second minute is BRUTAL! It’s crossing that anaerobic to aerobic threshold and it HURTS! Yeah I got 40 the first minute and only 14 the second if that tells you anything! How did you feel afterwards? My glutes/hams seized up!
PMPM - still… doing 62 reps of anything sucks ass! Especially with moderately heavy weight. Yeah, I am with ouro… I give you at least 47!
KP - see… I don’t like being “big” sometimes. It makes me feel like a sham when people ooh and ahh over my numbers because I know as a % of body weight it’s not all that impressive and/or there are chicks who weigh 40 lbs less than me putting up my numbers. Oh well… we all have our issues. Is what it is… =)
Brute - you are too sweet! Missed ya lady! Love watching you continue to rock it out (as I drool in awe… ;-D)
KIMBA!!! My sweet KIMBA! How are you? I haven’t been over to your log… what’s going on over there? Hope you are well!
LOVE YOU LADIES!
P.S. I am going to the Pro/Am this weekend in Cincy to support my friends Mike Keck and Julia Ladewski (and Cbear… if she lifts. If not, she will just have to sit on my lap in the audience. darn.) Anyway… anyone else going? Would love to see you there!

Just knowing how shy and demure you are, I just wanted to encourage you to speak your mind in regards to my “small man” syndrome. Assertiveness training can help with that.
Molly, all is well with me. Working on adding some weight to deadlifts, squat form still sucks, picked up running for cardio…life is generally good. Glad that you are still kicking ass and taking names too!
