I think most women (obviously you have to generalise) prefer a muscular build to an extent, with defined arms and abdominals and some size. The typical bodybuilder physique though, all size and veins? Probably not going to do it. Different strokes though.
This is also a reasonable analysis of the situation, especially if you are single. In fact, some women will not be receptive to you for being too “high maintenance” and assuming you will cheat on them(?!).
Others dont want to “compete”, preferring to be the “good looking one” in the relationship. It’s all a load of bollocks in the end though. We build our house and see who’s interested, hopefully someone we can deal with. Oh, and it helps to be independently wealthy too!!/;-D
Probably not. People are incredibly lazy and won’t do something that requires long-term effort and goes against the grain of society, even if it virtually guarantees a much MUCH better life.
Like working out and eating right. Or doing what it takes to earn a huge income.

Though a tad brutal and downbeat, this view has merit also IMHO…
One more thing on the subject. I personally know two guys, one very well heeled and the other literally “dirty rotten stinkin’ filthy rich”. If you did not know this about them, they would be the last guys you would think were rich.
Neither works out, one is a pencilneck, the other short and paunchy. Both have a mindset different from the average working person, but not in a negative/bad or arrogant way, they are just on a different level…It’s interesting to watch how women interact with these guys…

Very nice use of words here BigR. I like it

Thanks. I voiced my opinion because there are many more guys that want to be fashionable, but not fall into that “metro” trend. I mean, I am secure in my manhood and most certainly in my sexuality, but I still want my clothes to refined, yet obviously masculine. I’m not into unisex clothing, as defined by the societal norms. I agree. I get Menshealth… it’s OK. There’s a lot more yuppie bullshit in there… a lot of “What fancy sunglasses to buy” instead of “Which work boots last longer”.
I was actually thinking about writing them a letter about that.
Somehow though, I always find something worthwhile in the magazine, alot of times they have good feature articles by great writers.

I’m right there with you ragoo. I hear you about the “metro” thing. I’m fashionable, but won’t wear a pink button down shirt just because MH says it’s “in” this spring. MH sucks (In my opinion) in the way of fitness because they’ll take Brad Pitt (for example) and claim that he’s got the ideal body type. Whatever.
Their constant badgering of using Bosu balls and going rock climbing as a serious means to build muscle is just silly to me. ( I understand that I know more than the 19 year old kid picking up the magazine, but it’s just not for me)

And this, with what FightingIrish said, is what it boils down to: fads. I’m not a “fad” or “craze” person. Never have been. I think less men are driven by style fads than women are. Sure some guys fall into playing the style game because they’re led on by the chance of some poon, but as a whole, men look for things to buy that not only look good, but have a lasting quality.
Like which boots will hold up better, or which watches will take the most punishment while maintaining it’s appeal. I think for guys it’s a matter of form AND function, and lasting appeal plays a big part in decisions.
Norton may have desided not to keep to his training, but will smiths definatly did. you can see definate progression from the fresh prince days to say, i robot. he certainly caught the bug.
In regards to Ed Norton putting on all this muscle without the use of steroids I present the following:
Charles Poliquin states in his Question of Strength: October article, “I have a kid from the University of Southern California who was 25% body fat. I got him down to 12% in eight weeks, and he gained 25 pounds of muscle.”
A reputable source of this site claims he can add 25 pounds of muscle to a body in 8 weeks - so Ed Norton obtaining that type of physique with constant attention from a trainer / nutritionist from one movie to the next is definitely do-able without the use of steroids in my opinion.
Ok, for the record, I don’t believe Norton did steroids. Like was mentioned, he had nothing but time to devote to developing his character for the movie. It was something he did to complete the character and something that he didn’t feel like he needed to hang onto for himself.

but it is because of that site that I found T-Nation.
Same here, so I am somewhat partial to Men’s Health, because if it wasn’t for them posting the website in their magazine, I wouldn’t be taking advantage of all the good info and supplements.
I only knew about T-Nation because of Mens Health. And that’s just one stupid guy on that forum. It’s the fucking internet. People say stupid shit all the time. It’s not like this guy represents the staff at Men’s Health. And Men’s Health did put Metabolic Drive on their Foods for Men list. And we do hate on Men’s Health a lot. Men’s health is a good starting place for newbies.
I read somewhere that Norton admitted ‘yes i took steroids, for the role though’ kind of thing. May be mis-remembered.
I wish that Poliquin would train me. I bet he could have me down to 5% bodyfat, and eating food so rich in goodness that i’d simultaneously swell to a massive (but cut, remember) 22 stone. This all within twelve minutes, just by looking at me. Think he’d come to Cardiff?
