Think its cos he has tons of injuries and arthritic hips and has to back off when they flare up. Also was designed mainly for the benefit of his athletes.

Being beat up is no fun.
I’m on week 6 and it seems to be going fine. Haven’t done any max testing though. We’ll see.
What exactly do you do on Week 4?

Like a 1rm test to re-calculate percentages ?
I used it as a deload and did just one set of 5 at 65%. Worked well for me. Definitely don’t do a 1rm.
I think Rhodes was referring to something like the combine bench test where he’d expect his players to get around 20 reps.
You could also just leave out the main lift or even take a week off from weights and just do hard conditioning.
