Mathineer's Log

Damn Math! You are a busy, busy man. And diverse as hell…lifting, walking, running, working, teaching…I need a nap.

Managed to walk 20 miles yesterday on the Flatlanders course. Took about 6.5 hours clock time (about 6 hours of actual walking). Uff da!

Bagged a PR on the rower this morning: 2000m in 9:52.4.

Arm is feeling pretty good. I need to be careful I don’t get carried away and try to lift like Ouroboro and break something else.

No, no, no…no breaking anything…except records.

Glad to hear that you are doing well. And that you are still working it.

20 miles? I get tired driving 20 miles! Looking good, Math.

good hearing from you math!

I’m with skip - don’t think I want to walk 20 miles…

I don’t even want to drive 20 miles much less walk it.

all that walking and curcuit training should get you all buff soon enough.

Today is exactly 26 weeks post-surgery, eg half of a year. The arm is feeling pretty good. I’m currently lifting 3 times per week, full-body, and alternating an 8x8 workout with a ramping 5x5. The weights are still pretty light, but I am making gradual progress. The rowing is going well. I’m rowing about 6 times per week now, and mixing in longer slow rows with lactate threshold and interval workouts. The theory and planning of these workouts are very similar to running, but rowing is more of a power-endurance type of exercise.

I’m pretty much ready for the Flatlanders 12 hour on Sept 5. I’ll probably scale back the walking after that.

I hope all of you are doing well. I haven’t had much time to read the forum lately. Time for me to fade back into obscurity!

Good to hear from you, Math. And definitely good to hear that the rehab is going well. Looks like you are up to speed, even if watching the weight.
Make sure to let us know how the Flatlanders goes…

Sounds like things are going to plan, Math. Keep us informed, yeah?

You seem familiar. Weren’t you the guy who broke a foot or something.

Its good you’re back.

Thanks, guys!

Strick - I’ll definitely report on Flatlanders.

Eco - I broke my “or something”.

Joe - I’ll try to stop by more often.

Good to hear from you, Math, don’t be a stranger.

Hey guys, I think I fell off of the first page! Wow, has it really been since August?

I did do that 12 hour. I managed about 28 miles in about 8 hours and 15 minutes. I started getting blisters, chafing in places best not discussed in polite company (or even here, for that matter), and my calves started cramping. I decided that 28 miles was an ample sufficiency, and called it a day.

Today’s Session:

bent lateral raises 25/7 30/7/7/7/7/7

bench 120/3 130/3 140/3 150/3 130/3 140/3 150/3 130/3
one arm DB row (paused) 40/6 52.5/6/7/6/6/6

DB curl 20/6 25/6 30/6/6/6 20/15

I’ve been doing upper, lower, off, rinse, repeat schedule.

Today is week 45 post surgery.

I hope 2011 is a great year for all of you.

May your PRs be many, your injuries few
The best of success in whatever you do!

Lookin’ good math! apparently the rehab is going well

Happy New Year!
