Mathineer's Log

Nice pressing, good luck on the meet Sat.!

Math- Glad to hear the elbow settled down for you and lots of solid training here per usual!

virtual meet

1st attempt 280 lbs. successful

2nd attempt 300 lbs tore tendon in forearm. just got back from hospital. sorry, typing not so good. this sucks. will need surgery. no lifting for some time, if ever.

So sorry to hear. I hope it heals quickly and you can get back to it. Find a good sports med doctor.

Holy shit, Math, that sucks.

Yes, definitely sucks. I just took a shower - first time I took a good look at my upper arm. The biceps is definitely also detached. I screwed it up good.

Ah shit,Math!

Fuck! I’m so sorry.

Damn Math, that is a shitty deal. Hope you can get on the rehab mode soon.

thanks, guys. from what i’ve been reading, it looks like it’ll taka about 6 months until I can start lifting with that arm.

I won’t have much to post about for quite a while. Good time to focus on losing weight.

Aw man! Sucks doesn’t cover it. I’m really sorry to hear that. Here’s to a speedy recovery!

That sucks Math but I bet they’ll have you fixed up and back at it in no time.

Best of luck.

Good first lift. Get yourself taken care of. You’ll still be able to do your biking and cardio, some lower body stuff. I know it’s hard to be optimistic at this point but it’s amazing what the body can come back from. Keep us up to date.

Just got back from the orthopaedist. Diagnosis: distal biceps tendon rupture (not rapture, I guarantee). Doc works out of a surgery center. Had the MRI right there. Surgery is scheduled for the Friday. 1 week in cast, about 5 weeks in brace, about 3-4 months to “full recovery”. I think “full recovery” means I graduate to the 10 lbs dumbbells.

Thanks for stopping by guys. And be careful!

awww man - I’m sorry to see this news, Kevin. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery!

Just for grins, here’s a photo of the elbow.

War wound!

I bet it’ll get prettier in a couple more days.

Ouch.

Math - You are probably in mucho pain and still get in here and pump the other guys up.
Much respect. I hope you heal fast.

Math,
that sucks, Im real sorry to hear it.

Good work on the 1st lift!!!

And has anyone asked?

Is that your drinking arm??

check in with Meat and some of the other Big PL types, lots of torn biceps in that crowd,
see what they experienced.

What a shitty thing to happen to such a good guy. I had a friend tear his left biceps just a couple months ago. He had surgery and is back to doing all his daily activities and tying kids hockey skates no problem. Hang in there.
