Hey I’ve heard of all the benefits of a thick bar toward thicker forearms. I don’t have one but i was wondering if wrapping the bar with like shirts, making the bar thicker, would have the same benefits.
Basically, anything that makes it take more effort just to grip the thing will improve your forearm strength. But, I would imagine, that if you make it too hard for your grip, you will bottleneck your other muscles, at least until your grip improves.
Get some PVC pipe, or some fat bar grips to wrap around the bar. I think Ivanko sells some.

Lynx Grips:
They’ll distribute the load more evenly over your entire hand; it’s like a thick bar you can use for all exercises.
When deadlifting, or doing shurgs I sometimes wrap where I grip the bar with a towel.
Works for me, my hands usually hurt afterwards. Try it and see if it works.

Those look kinda cool. Thinking about getting a pair- does anyone have any experience with these?

I guess Eric Cressey does. Why not ask him?
I’ve used them training with Eric before. I definetly like them. There are some even thicker ones at the gym but I’m not sure what company they’re from.

I’ve never tried these, but they’re an option as well, I guess.

I’ve always used pipe insulation from the hardware store.
Just buy a section with a 1"internal diameter and cut it to size and slip it over the bar.
Works perfectly.
Here is the fat grip I was talking about. I really like this one. I’ll probably buy a pair for myself.

thanks for the responses.
The cheapest way is to use PVC pipe, that way, you can even vary the tickness. The drawback is that it is best for deadlift/row/curl type moves since it does not “fit” tight around the bar. I used some on an oly bar. I just unscrewed the end piece and slipped it on. I just did not have the money for the real deal at the time. But it did work for my grip.

I respect that you did not call me out in this other thread and answered my question.
