Mag-10 and dieting - seriously,I need the advice!

Ok, I can feel the heat on my ass from the flames that are about to be thrown my way…but just hold on one sec and let me throw this question out to those much more knowledgeable than I…

I KNOW this shit works for bulking...it certainly did for me back in March of this year...but what would happen if I used Mag-10 while going on a "crash" diet of sorts to lose as much fat as possible while I'm revved up on Mag-10?

Is it even remotely possible to LOSE 10 to 15 pounds of fat in two weeks the same way you can GAIN muscle that quickly? Can Mag-10 work its magic in reverse? Will Mag-10 enable me to keep my lean mass as I cut the calories down?

Yes, I could just go on bulking, but I figured I might take one last stab at getting (somewhat) cut. If Mag-10 can help me do that, I'm all for it.

Yes and no. Yes, Mag-10 can “work its magic in reverse” and “enable” you to to keep your lean mass as you cut the calories down. You can increase energy expenditure while decreasing energy intake dramatically. However, “No,” you cannot lose 10-15 lbs. fat in two weeks. Let’s say that you can manage a 2,000 calorie deficit per day through diet and exercise manipulation (which would be tough to do). Assuming that you ONLY burn 2,000 calories worth of fat, that works out to 8 lbs. in two weeks. Even that would be a stretch, though. Personally, I think 5-6 would be more reasonable. Your best bet would be to get to within 6-8 lbs. of your goal and then use the Mag-10 to go for broke.

If it’s any help to you, yes I believe it is possible. One customer that I dealt with at my workplace which carries Mag-10 told us that he managed to lose 25lbs on Mag-10! It was by far one of the most incredible things I’ve ever heard. Unfortunately he didn’t have time to get specific but I found out that he did follow a very strict diet and weight training program (what it was, specifically, I’m not sure). Since then I haven’t seen him. But if he ever comes in again I’ll be sure to ask and answer your question more thoroughly. For now, I’ll just say yes it is possible.

Yes and no. You can lose that much weight but not that much fat. Remember that new LBM is about 20% protein, 5% mineral and 75% water. Additional glycogen storage on a high carb diet will lead to a significant gain in water weight beyond typical lbm water gain.

But when you turn the tides and look at fat loss, fat is primarily fat with just a little water. It takes a lot more of a calorie deficit to lose the fat than it takes a caloric surplus to gain. So, once you lose the initial 5 lbs of water and glycogen, the fat weight will come off much less quickly.

If you attempt this, I would gradually drop your caloric intake over two weeks before hitting those “low” numbers that you would be using while on Mag-10. Most people will get much better results by doing things this way.

Thanks to all for the informative and scientific answers. I understand now that while it is possible to drop significant poundage in a short period of time, some of that weight is inevitably going to be muscle, even with the use of Mag-10.

My new plan of attack is to get as lean as I can over the next 8 to 12 weeks, and then start another bulking cycle sometime in January.

To Joel: it's funny you mentioned a "pre" diet period. That's exactly what I've been doing for the last two weeks. It SUCKS! I'm so used to eating big that I've been walking around hungry all the time, but I'm getting more used to it now.

I'll let you all know how I made out after my first two weeks of Mag-10 (which I'm starting this monday).

Thanks again!
