Lots of protein, still hungry

Hi all. A lot of my training in weighted Calesthenics and my diet is some what reasonable. I try eat as much protein as I can and sometimes just have one big meal a day like half a grilled chicken with fries and maybe some grilled wings. I occasionally snack on fruit throughout the day.
I weight 14.5 stone and 5”11.

My problem is I hold a lot of fat on my sides and lower back.

What would you guys recommend in terms of diet. I try not eat anything during the morning but I feel like this is wrong. Also when I eat lots of protein ie 6 eggs, I’m not full which results in me eating more.

That is like 30 to 40g of protein. That’s not a lot of protein. Nor is half a chicken breast. Its no wonder you are hungry: you are not eating much.

I would not snack on fruit during the day. I would not snack in general. I would eat enough meat and eggs at meals to not need snacks

Thank you for this. So what I’ve done in the past is, 6 boiled eggs on their own , 2 scoops gold standard whey, tin of sardines and 2 chicken breasts. But because I’m not consuming carbs, I believe this is what make me hungry. I could be wrong

That’s like 1000 calories. Of course you’re hungry. I don’t think it has anything to do with macronutrient ratios, it’s just an absolute calorie question.

Edit: unless I’m misreading. Are you saying those are your protein foods and you also eat other foods? If so, that appears to be just under 1g per lbs of body weight, which wouldn’t be a particularly high-protein diet (at least in this context).

I believe you are.

You are eating less than 200 grams of protein and weigh over 200 lbs.

How is that a lot of protein?

Ok what would a good day of high protein intake look like? I can eat all meats except ham.

Again, what I would do is eat meat and eggs when I am hungry and stop eating when I am not hungry. If I got hungry again, I would eat meat and eggs again. It sounds like you are stopping while still hungry

I just feel like no matter how much protein I eat without carbs I still get hungry. Whereas if I have let’s say 6 eggs with a bit of toast I’m ok

What happens if you eat 6 eggs and a 6oz sirloin? Or 12 eggs?

When that happens, it means it is time for me to eat meat and eggs again. That’s the system working

Absolutely dude! To echo what @TrainForPain has said and further your question: 6 eggs, for me, is the SIDE of what I’m eating. This was my meal last night

I did not eat ALL of those deviled eggs, no, but I DID have 6 eggs worth alongside those 2 ribs, and some grassfed beef sausage. And the eggs were actually “clean”: I used grassfed sour cream and cottage cheese to make the base, rather than mayo. Ribs are just smoke and some grassfed ghee

And this was what I ate the morning of a grappling competition

That’s a 10oz grassfed piedmontese steak, and then a sirloin cap of SOME weight. All swimming in grassfed ghee.

And I’m 5’9 and about 177lbs.

Im not a nutritionist or dietician or personal trainer…

I think you need about 100 cal from carbs for your liver to function, and another 130 for brain function(some minimal amount I could be off a bit)… your body is going to be converting protein to glucose by gluconeogenesis if you too low on carbs. I do a zero sugar, zero flour diet, and if you dont get enough carbs you wont replace the glycogen you burn out of your muscles when you workout(ATP use glycogen in anaerobic functioning, aka lactic acid build up).

If I go low carb on this diet I get lactic acid build up in seconds, just going into a squatting position. Thats when I know Im too low on carbs…

I do a large bowl of no sugar shredded wheat in the AM(along with 4 eggs), ezekial bread and turkey for lunch (you can do 2 large sandwiches for lunch if you want more protein, one at 11 for example and one at 2 or so)… then tofu or any meat(besides beef) for dinner and any veggies, beans, whole grains etc…

No beef since the heme iron(makes it color red) kills the cilia in your stomach, not good

Your liver is directly attached to your stomach so good liver and gut health may be one of the most overlooked aspects of nutrition… I didn’t think much about it when I was boozing and downing multiple servings of protein powder every day… Some great options for good gut health are olives, pickles… anything pickled/fermented…

Glycogen stores 3x water btw

You don’t say.

Shut up

It sounds more like you aren’t fat adapted.

Should clarify… lactic acid build up quickly the day or 2 after a squat or leg routine… or really any muscle group that was recently worked…

If I add in more carbs it wont happen as quickly, body will tell you what is going on if you know how to test and listen

Well that looks delicious. You can puree hardboiled eggs, ghee/olive oil, vinegar, and some water and seasoning to make a mayo for some hot egg on egg action.

I have questions.

Much appreciated dude!

Appreciate the suggestion there. I’d have to omit the olive oil, vinegar and seasoning myself, but I imagine I could get creative if so inclined. These days, I find I really care more for sour cream than mayo.

Mine is telling me that your body doesn’t sound fat adapated.

I did this on Friday and experienced no soreness, despite having no carbs
