Losing Focus

Definitely amazing progress! Keep up the good work.

Something to keep in mind too is that eating the same thing every day helps with satiety. Routine makes you want to eat only the meals and amounts you have planned.

Make sure you’re getting lots of vegetables in there too, they do actually help with fat loss! you migh consider having some green tea a couple of times a day too.

Well to let everyone know who read my first posts. I’ve been back on my diet for about 2 weeks now. It really wasn’t that tough getting back on after it felt like my body and mind got the recharge that it felt it needed. I’ve been doing some boxing at a boxing gym so that too helps with some cardio. I am now almost at a weight lost of 40lbs. So, to see if there is any difference in my physique I will be taking some pictures here in the next day or two, and will post them up here on the forums. That way you guys can critique my progress. Also my original planned date to end the first phase of my diet is April 19th. At that date I was hoping to weigh in at 200lbs even. Then I may take a week off and just kind of relax, or I may modify my diet and keep on going. So we’ll see how close to 200lbs I can get to by then.
Like most people, I would like to have abs. So, I will definately need to diet more.

Thanks for reading guys.

Great progress. Keep going.

Everyone slips. The trick is to catch yourself. Looks like you did.

Totally agree, Zap. Being aware of when you are falling off the wagon is more helpful overall than most other things for dealing with ‘focus’ issues. The sooner you notice you’re starting to slip, the less likely you are to have an incident with a box of Twinkies.

One of the things about dieting is paying attention to muscle loss. If you’ve lost 40 lbs, how much of that is muscle? For every pound of muscle you lose that’s 50 less calories a day you need to maintain. So if you keep losing weight and not dropping your calories, your progress will slow and you may actually begin to gain weight as your metabolism drops out. This is why weight training is so important.

What’s that you say- you’ve been weight training so you’re sure your losses are all fat? There is no way all 40 lbs of your loss is fat. My guess is it’s at least 4 to 1, meaning you probably lost ~32 lbs of fat and ~8 lbs of muscle. That’s close to 400 less calories a day you need compared to before due to muscle loss alone. It’s possible you lost less, especially if you’re taking HOT-ROX, but probably not.

Next time you hit a plateau, try to reconfigure your maintenance calories and hold that weight exactly steady for a week. That will let you know how to make adjustments.

Honestly though you are making great progress so keep it up and don’t get discouraged. The cheat meals are a good idea, if anything just to keep your metabolism going.

Just keep on doing what you have been doing man. In just two months, what you have achieved is OUTSTANDING, and REMARKABLE. Just keep at it, how can you stop with the progress you’ve made? Ask yourself that, man. I used to be fat and losing it was the hardest thing I have ever done. You must keep at it though… or I’ll kick your nuts in.

Here are some pics of me 40lbs lighter then when I started.

Back 40lb

Side 40lb

Also, I’m weighing 206lbs right now. It’s the lightest I’ve weighed since the year 2001. I weighed 236lbs all through Highschool and wore size 36 jeans. And now am wearing size 34 to 33’s depending on the manufacturer. So, still going strong I think. Any critiscm is welcome.

se7en,

I dont see any fat in your diet bro. You will find cravings subside when you are getting ample amounts of EFAs. I am not sure of the portion sizes you are eating either but you may not be getting enough calories. I would suggest adding in some fats via fish oil and olive oil.

You are also getting quite a bit of carbs from those trioplex bars which have 16 grams of sugar each. Also most of the protein in those bars comes from soy and that has been shown to increase estrogen production.

Read some of Dr. Berardi’s articles as he talks in depth about all of the above.

You have come a long way. Keep it up.

Good luck.

Keep going dude!

And don’t forget to do some weights now and then so you make sure you have some muscle when youre finished cutting. You dont want to be a skeleton now…

Just a quick comment on the pics (I said comment not rip so relax people)

I am not sure if your shorts are pulled that far down for a particular reason but the actual waist is located between the rib cage and the top of the pelvis, with your shorts so low it kind of gives a distorted veiw of your proportions IE Short ass legs, long torso etc.

If you did this for the pics or what have you I don’t think its necessary I could still tell what was going on with your build, if it is some kinda fashion thing I have seen plenty of rail thin guys do this as well not a good look I don’t get it.

As for the weight loss I’m definately proud of you good work keep at it it will come even when it starts to slow down it will come good luck.

Im sorry to confuse or gross you out? But it’s simply the shorts and pants that I wear and buy are all cut wrong for me. I’m 5’8 all upper body and midget legs. If you think those rolls of skin hanging out the top of my waisteline is hip bones…god I only wish haha. But no offense taken…I just thought it was funny.

I was actually going to make this same comment. You will feel better about yourself if you start wearing some clothes that are made for your body composition. Not sure where you would shop- midget world maybe?

No seriously you have a very “odd” proportioned body. I say odd because it is over-emphasized by your love handles. Once you get rid of those, which you are well on your way to, you should look less “odd”.

Don’t get hung up on buying a bunch of new clothes now though. I made that mistake a while ago when I started out at size 38 jeans, lost a bunch of weight and went hog wild buying size 34 clothes. Now I’ve lost more and now wear either a size 30 or 32 (30 in jeans, 32 in dress pants). I’ve had to donate two complete wardropes to Goodwill. Not good for the wallet. I’m still losing too, but I’m maxed out at my hip bones at 30, so hopefully I won’t shrink much more (odd thing for a FFB to say, heh?).

So after all of this discussion- have you regained your focus?

What is your workout routine?
