P.S. as you can see im new to posting things and not very good at it yet… deal.

So you want to look like carrot top. Fair enough.

  1. Read the stickies at the top of this forum. They will address 99% of your questions and guide you.

  2. Come back and bump this thread AFTER you do your homework with any specific questions.

Regarding a program, do a search for “Starting Strength” and look for a thread by Otep. This is a good place to start.

I’m no Pro but…

A) This is a heated debate …but here is my advice. If you want to weigh 190lbs, you have to eat like a 190lb person. Meaning at least 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound per day. Now as far as putting on “clean mass” or “dirty mass”.

It’s all trial and error, but IMO you look pretty lean so don’t concern yourself with “body fat%”.Keep a food journal of what you eat everyday, it’s tedious but it gives you a measurement to see if your protein intake is corrolating with you goals.

B) Personally I have had good gains switching from 5x5 compound movements to 3x10 compound movements. But again you are a different person than I, so it may not work for you. Remember…trail and error

oh…Carrot top is juicing

Wow carrot top needs to do some crunches.

Troll.

hahaha. how much you weigh there? 160? don’t worry bout dropping down to 6%bf just yet, you will just look bad.

You want to get big?

EAT.EAT.EAT.

You have to eat to get big. Take your bodyweight and multiple it by 17 and eat that many calories per day. Eat every 3 hours. At least 5 solids meals a day. 1-1.5 grams protein per lbs of bw per day. (FYI 1 gr protein equals 4 kcals…so that counts towards your total bulking kcals). If you aren’t growing from that amount, add more kcals. If you do lots of cardio, slow it down a bit.

I would start lifting 5 times a week or maybe 3 on 1 off. Read any of the 15546587 articles on a workout program and do that…

and most important REST

Now do your research and get to work…

P.S. your goal should not be lame ass Carrot Top but Frank Zane or Larry Scott

and on a more personal note I DESPISE cardio I more or less work somthing out till I think imma vomit then I stop…that can’t be smart on my part. lol

EAT and DO WORK SON!

dude seriously set yourself a higher goal. lol

But to answer your question Hearst Magazines theres some good articles in there aswell for you. The main thing you should be doing now is reading reading and more reading, so you can learn how to build muscle intelegently and correctly.

Trolls don’t hang out in the Beginners forum. That’s where, you know, beginners like to go. They usually sound like trolls because they don’t have a clue. Therefore, they come here. Trolls hang out in RMP.

/sarcasm

Fixed that for you. The last thing he needs to be doing is to go to another site with individuals seeking HIS current body frame. Reading is fine, but reading too much is too much of a good thing.

Listen to njrusmc and cobbsdad. They have stated what I would have told you.

The last thing you need to be worrying about is seeing your abs if you want to gain muscle. I’m not saying it is impossible, but very difficult.

To answer OP’s question, lift and eat, and plastic surgery if you’re shooting for a similar face. I saw that have Training for Newbies in you favorites, good for you. You should also take a look at the Are you a beginner II thread at the top of the forum. Read the all the links. While you’re reading and absorbing that, take a crack at Rippietoe’s Starting Strength or WS4SB. You’re already lean, so eat like a horse, and don’t worry if you get some fat (key word being some, don’t get obese) over your abs.

This was posted in the ‘weight training’ part of mens health. Thank you

P.S read (there is some shit out there, but if you read some of the articles on that link i gave you, it will help you sniff it out)

Hahahaha. Thanks for the sarcasm everyone but one thing I have learned from reading so many of Thib’s articles is that I should set achievable goals. so would I like to look like arnold definetly, but I dont see myself doing in the 1 or 2 year run.

I’m not saying I like carrot top or approve of his ways but lets face it he’s bigger than me. and that is my first goal step in my bodybuilding career. and also carrot top strikes me more as the joker from batman than a troll…lmao

look like Arnold in 2 years hahaha good one hahaha. We were saying to strive to look like him instead of Carrot Top, cause well…its Carrot Top!

A good one year goal for a beginner is gain 12 lbs of LEAN MASS while keeping bodyfat around 10%bf (meaning that you maintain your current bodyfat and don’t have to drop a ton of fat to begin with), also set some REAL ATTAINABLE strength goals…I know you want to be a bodybuilder, not a powerlifter, but you still need to be decently strong and continue to go up in strenght to put on mass. Aim for goals like improve BP by 50lbs (you wont have a 50" chest with 150lbs max), 315 squat (full), or do BW +10lb pull ups. These are all attainable within a year or prob even 6 mths, and they will help towards your goal of 10lbs in a year.

Eat well, train hard, supplement smart, Get plenty of rest, and do tons of research, Stay focused and you will do fine!
