Nicely done on the bench, and also for backing off before something bad happened.

Sweetie, you need insulation and some heat in that shed. Seeing your breath while lifting can’t be comfortable.[/quote]

x2 minus the Sweetie part.

If I had to lift rthere my routine would consist of:

  1. Walking four feet into the place.

  2. Shivering uncontrollably for fifteen seconds.

  3. Running back to the house.

Yay! Maschy posted
Boo! No distracting avi :frowning:

Well, a bit of a cold snap going on here. Today it is currently -19C expecting to warm up all the way to -12C. That is outside my comfort zone. Warming up some tomorrow so it should be OK.

Joe, actually the 30 foot walk from the house is usually colder due to wind. Makes it feel warmer once you are inside

Lunch time training at the commercial gym

Armzz day…been ignoring them. And an excuse to get out of the office.

Hammer curls
Preacher curls
Reverse grip bench in smith
BB curls
Dip machine…much easier on my shoulder than free dips. I think it’s because I can better control the angle.

A mad pump, yo.

edit: You know, I usually don’t give a shit what other people do in the gym. Yes, I cringe when folks are doing stuff that might hurt them or that is basically a waste of time. Generally, it doesn’t affect me so I don’t waste any energy on it.
When Mr. Frosted Tips with the dark tan was doing his 1/4 squats with 315 and then preening in the mirror I was shaking my head a bit but generally disinterested. But, when Mr. Frosted Tips removed the three plates from one side of the bar, without removing any from the other side, and the fucking bar flipped up and the plates clattered to the floor and the gym went dead silent, because stupidity absorbs sound, I had to laugh out loud. Sorry Mr. Frosted Tips if I hurt your feelings.

Random stream of consciousness follows…

  • laughed my ass off over the beer fridge commercial. My wife and I are currently debating the wisdom of our respective renovation wants: my wet bar, her shoe closet.
  • Totally decent bench. Things are goin’ well for you!
  • No wonderyou listen to angry workout music… your gym is a f##kin’ ice box!

Well done on the deadlift PR.

I bet you appreciated that lovely, warm commercial gym after training in your freezing “shed”. I can sympathise after training in below freezing temps for a few weeks before Christmas.

And you don’t get morons providing entertainment when training at home.

You seem to be going through a bit of a “purple patch” at the moment.

Ohhh renovations. The possibilities. This perhaps? The carpenter cracks me up.

I’ll admit to being a bit of an angry lifter. Training in the ‘box’ is quite liberating in some ways compared to a commercial gym. I say bad words sometimes

^Me all time favorite beer & some of the best commercials ever made.

I wanna be like you and train at home someday…
getting tired of the idiots at my gym.

Great work and great PRs!!

The commercial gym definitely has its place.
The only entertaining moron when I train at home is me…not that entertaining but definitely stupid sometimes.

Purple patch? I don’t get it. You been talking to my wife?

I went off my government prescribed friendly meds and it showed in my attitude yesterday. The authorities were at my door early this morning to ensure compliance. After taking the little orange pill I feel better, so much better today. Anything I can do for you?

Coan talking about raw bench and some thoughts from Cartwright on squats.
I like his heavy day / explosive day thoughts. An arced bar path, as he describes, is much easier for me than a straight path. I need to be tighter from back to glutes.

I am now determined to get chains for squat work. I need to figure out length and guage/weight.

I am reading his book right now. The Man, the Myth, the Method.

^ Cool! I didn’t know he had a book. Do you recommend it?

Well, I’ll be perfectly honest. I’m mostly just spending time drooling over pics of his physique at this point. I’m totally engrossed in the third Millennium book (Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) right now so I haven’t started reading the Coan book yet. I’ll let you know if the content is decent when I get to that point.

I understand that the Millennium Trilogy is a real page-turner. Perhaps I’ll check out Amazon. I could use some non-fiction.

Cycle 7, Week 3 (singles)
Trained after work in the home gym.

Squats
135 x 3
185 x 3
235 x 1
285 x 1
330 x 1
350 x 1…PR +5lbs
360 x 1…PR +15lbs
375 x 1…PR +30lbs. Weird. Okay so maybe 405 by the end of the year IS within reach.
380 x 0

Squats to pins (high)
235 x 3
330 x 3
380 x 3
425 x 1

Done. Starving. PLus Stairway to Heaven came on the stereo and that always means the high-school dance is almost over and it’s time to find a girl as drunk as me so we can make out.

Here is the home gym from the outside. Kinda looks like evil experiments are done there. I should get some red light bulbs.

What are you eating?!

PR after PR in here, awesome work.

whoa - a 30# PR on the squats! those overweight plates have really helped!
