Last night - squats at home with belt
275 x 5
305 x 3
335 x 0…WTF??? you piece of shit I squatted this 2 weeks ago
315 x 0…WTF??? you piece of shit
Didn’t know what to think at this point so I went in the house and stuffed myself with food.
Today - squats at commercial gym no belt.
275 x 5
305 x 3
315 x 1
335 x 1…pretty easy. WTF is going on here?
315 x 1
225 x 12…was going to go for 20 but got bored
The weights at the gym are Ivanko so I assume they are accurate but I could be wrong. I think the York weights I have at home are a fair amount heavier. It doesn’t matter that much in the long run but explains a few things (bench and OHP WTFs) and throws a wrinkle in my 5/3/1 progression.
Better take your bathroom scale out to the shed and weight everything, even those weights that already have hand painted numbers…
of course stuffing yourself with food may have helped.

Could be the food and I was training later than normal. But it definitely feels heavier when I unrack it. I’ll take the scale out there tonight and see what’s what.

Are you de-loading at all? I can’t recall seeing it in here. But only having a 5th grade edumacation doesn’t mean it wasn’t posted somewhere.
Actually I haven’t deloaded in 3-4 months. I find that I end up with a few days off here and there and it seems to work out. I haven’t had to reset (yet) so I’m just going to keep going until I smash into a wall. Deload runs contrary to my personality anyway.

It just really sucks when the weight on the bar/plates isn’t really the weight. So. Frustrating.
As for the attitude problem, just don’t hurt anyone. It will pass (hopefully).
Okey dokey, if my trusted bathroom scale is correct, the 45s are 1.5 to 2.5 lbs heavy. This is 1 lb heavier per 45 than what the previous owner wrote on them. I might get a fancy digital scale, if they are more accurate, just to check.
This would explain why 225 feels like close to 235 and why a 315 squat feels heavier than it should.
But, this also means that my 430 DL may actually be around 445 which is good, I guess.
Not sure what to do now. When tracking poundages, do I just use the weight stamped on the plate or do I use the actual weight.

I’m not quite to Charles Bronson stage…yet.
On a cheerier note, the nice lady that was getting the new bewbs was at the gym today. Now I’m not a fake bewb fan at all, and I know there are potential health implications, and I know that women shouldn’t feel the need to make such decisions based on societal pressures and standards but…
With my oly bar that is actually 37.5 lbs instead of 45, I just put more weight on the bar to compensate. With your plates being heavier, I’d figure out what the real weight was and then work off of that. Especially if you are still switching off between home and gym. But that is me…I’m just not happy unless I know the “real” weight that I’m lifting.
Thanks for the update on bewb lady! Did she get the bigger ones or the smaller ones?

Yes, I’m using your old log. You should come by & check out some of the things I’ve done to it. I think you’ll really dig it.
