Hi,Im Mr.Slick, real name Tony,Form Houston,TX. Im 5`7 1/2 and I weight between 143-145 pounds. (My goal is to reach 180 range someday) I need some help here. I noticed that the goal most guys here are try to acheive is to get sculpted and nicer looking. Thats great and all but im not a boydbuilder,Im trying to become a MMA Fighter. (But being bigger isent much an issue with me) Problem is,I lack equipment and resources, not to mention a plan or guideline. What I have right now is Boxing Gloves,a Bench with 300 pounds worth of weights,a curling bar,and NO-Xplod Fruit punch. I was thinking that maybe every other day I work on a strength of a specific body part and the following day I work on Kickboxing and grappling. Some suggestions and info on near by gyms in the North Houston would be great.

Hey Im FORM Texas too. sorry couldn’t help pointing out the spelling problem.
Sounds like you got plenty of weight. Trust me you can improvise with limited equipment. I’m going to have to do that soon, just look up some exercise databases if you want in order to find good replacements if you don’t have the equipment to do a certain one.

Lol,thanks for pointing out my wording error without coming off as a dick. I guess im used to shrdog to much. Anyway, the barbell and curl maybe all and well great but I need something to help with my legs. I got great genetics when it comes to thighs and ankle. (My grandfather taught Muay Thai in the motherland) They are naturally thick. I want it to be Crocop thick. (My idol) Any Suggestion how to work on my legs with the Barbell, other than Squats, cleans, and deadlifts?

You have pretty much everything you need as well as something you don’t, the NoXplode crap.
The best thing you can do is stick to a basic routine and follow it to the letter. Don’t make your own program and don’t second guess yourself.
I think Phil is right in saying that Chad Waterbury’s MMA series is very good. However I would recommend that you take on a simpler program first, a good one would be Chad’s Total Body Training.
It is a lifting program that can still kick your ass in terms of conditioning (18 rep squats anyone?). More importantly it leaves ample room for recovery and muay thai/ BJJ practice.
Also it is a program which I can personally attest to the validity of, having put on a solid 25lbs during, as well as the the 4 weeks after, it.
I offer coaching in Canada for MMA.
Check out my first fight video from a few years ago before I started weight training.
Kind of a UFC parody I suppose, to be honest.
What’s wrong with the video? There was no picture for the last three minutes, only a wierd song.

Ya, sorry, its the first video I’ve ever made on the home computer, so it keeps on going because of the length of the song and I couldn’t shorter it.
Its from a trip to Banff from a few years ago
