Changing My Dumbbell Only Routine?

So, been awhile since i’ve posted, and i’m still 130 give or take, i believe it’s my plateau. And i’m sure a lot of you are going to tell me to hit the gym, but i think i’ll hold off on that until school is over.

But, i've been working out with a couple dumbbells for a while, adjustables with a total of 60 lbs.

Anyway, my routine is something like this, all though i tend to change it up a bit

i do shrugs clock-wise, counter clock-wise, and up and down 10 times each with 50 lbs

3x10 bicep curls, warm up with 25 lbs, work up to 40 lbs

3x10-15 tricep curls, usually warming up with about 30 lbs, and usually ending with 50

3x10 dumbbell row with 35-50 lbs

3x10 serattus crunches with 40-50 lbs loaded on one dumbbell (not sure if it’d be better to use with equally same weight, or one cuts it, hate wasting time loading up two) and each set is followed by 10 crunches

3x10 front shoulder raises, start from 25-40

2-3x15 incline chest fly

2-3x15 incline bench press

I know it’s a bad habit, but this is my only work out which i do every other day, i know i should do a split routine, but not sure how great my options can be with just dumbbells.

And my diet usually consists of spaghetti, and sometimes pot pies, the occasional pizza, whole milk, and whatever’s for school lunch. I’m probably in for some criticism, but as long as it’s useful go for it. But, this put 10 lbs on me in a few weeks, but then i hit my plateau. I’m probably long overdue for some heavier weight, but this seems alright for now.

Anyway, hope i can get some help on this. And i think i’m looking for increased strength, lower bf%, and a similar weight since wrestling season is coming up, all though i’m always up for putting on a few extra lbs.

This post may seem pretty confusing, but been awhile since i’ve posted. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and i’m thankful for any help.

helm, good to see you’re still at it, but you really need heavier weights and better nutrition to see some serious gains. Just keep doing what you can with what you got, but strive to improve those two areas when you can.

Take care,

D

I don’t think you have to rotate (clockwise/anti…) when doing shrugs, only go up and down, unless someone would correct me.

Kind of disappointed at the lack of flames :stuck_out_tongue:

But, good to see someone remembers me, working out is my only outlet, so don’t worry about me, won’t be giving it up anytime soon.

But, the one thing i’m proud of in myself is i haven’t touched pepsi in like a year.

I tried to flame you, but the mods blocked it. Sorry.

Why don’t you want to work out at a gym?

Have you considered buying a bar & some weights, if you don’t want to/can’t go to the gym?

Why don’t you try and do some pullups/chins? Find a place to do them like maybe a tree branch or buy a pull up bar. They’re cheap. Maybe you can find a place to do full dips even; perhaps at a playground?

Well, I’ve noticed I’m probably better off out of the gym :stuck_out_tongue: I’m the kind of guy that likes to take off the shirt, and i blair music, and occassionaly like to give a good battle cry :stuck_out_tongue:

But, there’s like one tree in my backyard with puny branches, but i’ve been meaning to buy one of those bars you can put on your door and do chin ups on that. But, my room’s on the second floor, probably not a good idea to be slammin a barbell on the floor. Anyway, i’d need to get a buddy anyway once i started goin heavy, and i workout alone.

But, when wrestling season comes up i can go in a little gym in my school, but not sure if i should use it or not. It’s got the row machine, benchpress, leg press, variety of dumbbells, stuff like that, but we don’t get much time in there usually. Not sure if i should work in there when i can, or keep at it at home.

WTF?

Before you look to change up your ‘routine’, how about you start lifting some weights and progressing some.

Don’t roll your shoulders (forward or reverse) doing shrugs either.

Ok, so let’s take a look:

  1. An ecto who thinks he’s hit his natural limit
  2. Refuses to lift heavy
  3. Doesn’t eat properly
  4. Has conflicting goals
  5. Doesn’t do any leg work
  6. Small but wants to cut bf

Perhaps if you posted some pictures while holding out a shoe we could help you better.

Zing! Nail on the head. Until this guy squats and eats for real he’s wasting time.

I second, or third the shrugs thing…although it would be okay to pull your shoulders back at the very top, but ok not to as well. Anything else can cause damage.

Alright, guess I’ll start doing normal shrugs. But the reason i’m lookin to lose some fat is because wrestling is coming up, after that i won’t need to worry about my weight again and I plan on putting on some real weight. But,i hope some of you are taking into consideration i’m hardly anymore than 5’3, one of the shortest 18 year olds you’d ever seen.

And, i know i’m a real slacker with legs, i sometimes am on and off with legs. I’m just another one of those guys who feels the need to constantly work the upperbody. and the most i’d do with legs anyway is 3x20 squats with 60 lbs, some pistols and lunges. I might as well do my leg routine as a warm up for the upperbody.

you might as well figure out how to lift.

no offence but your shit is pathetic.

^^^listen or don’t bother lifting.
