What is the best way to squat if you have long femurs and a short torso?
Stance width, bar position, type of shoes etc.

Whichever way allows you to squat the most weight to proper depth in a controlled manner.

Bang on, if not entirely helpful to the OP.
Conventional wisdom dictates you’ll be better off with a wider stance. I think bar placement is more variable. I figure the more you lean naturally to squat, the better you do with a lower bar placement. The less you lean, the better you do with a higher bar. I don’t mean go low bar if you tend to squat morning, because that may well be a result of poor technique or weakness. As long as your bar placement keeps the bar over your mid foot during the whole squat, you’re golden.
If you do go with a wider stance, make sure you flare your toes. I’ve found that tends to work better.
