I personally feel they need to move away from the EXTREME dry look, but I doubt it is going anywhere either.

I agree. It’s getting to that look that puts the men and women in danger because dialing in like that has very little to do with bodybuilding and everything to do with ‘chemical’ knowledge. It is for that part they need to hire a specialist to help them. Shouldn’t be that way.

But you are right, it is probably not going anywhere.

Prof, you are a big fan of Heath, did you have him before Dexter (whom you admire as well, I know)?
How did you call the top 6?

I think if they were no names, then yes, Heath should have won the show…but Dex has been at this for YEARS and looked over because of his height (an the fact that he isn’t 260+lbs). He deserved it and he damn sure came into the show prepared to take it.

I have no problem with the turn out other than the fact that Jay came before Freeman. Cutler should have been 5th or 6th.

I agree with Freeman’s and Cutler’s placings being idiotic…

What does Heath have that Dex doesn’t, in your opinion?

More interesting arm development and the ability to get even better considering he just started.

I edited my above post before you posted this, but the edit hasn’t shown up thus far…

Dex has been at it for ages, but he always held back on the size on purpose… Now that he finally allowed himself to gain a little weight (backwidth was improved imo), he actually won the O, though not necessarily due to that.
I think that dex could gain size along with heath if he really wanted to, at least for a few more years.

Yeah, Dexter deserved it, no doubt about it. All those years coming in and bringing that great of a package and he looked fantastic. Heath just has something about him. A freak quality. Freeman looked incredible as well. Sight to behold. I am glad he did well.

People may hate on him a lot, but I must say… he’s not exactly a small dude.

Which is sad, because 5’6" @ 220lbs is still pretty damn big.

Heath’s chest freaks me out. What is up with his chest? I mean seriously, what is that indent? It almost looks like he has pec tears in both his pecs.

Somebody wanna educate me?

If it weren’t for his chest I think he’d have the best physique in modern bodybuilding!

SOmething I believe CHad Nichols said in a Post Olympia, was that Even though Dex was the best physique onstage that particular day, he beat a lot of guys who have beat him recently as well. The next few years could really be a lot of one guy wins, then another guy wins etc… so it actually could turn out to be an interesting sport to follow, without one guy just dominating for years on end (not a swipe at Ronnie or anyone else)

This is what I’m hoping for. Not to knock any of the guys that won several titles in a row, but the Mr. O loses a lot of interest when the same guy wins over and over. I see it being a lot more competitive now. This is a good thing for the sport.

It’s just his genetics. I have the same indents in the sides of my pecs and I’ve never torn either of my pecs.

Guy, there’s nothing wrong with his chest. That is normal. Some of you just don’t pay attention enough to the human body to understand variances of normal.

Incredible physique, but imo he’s just a little bit lacking in terms of back thickness to make it as Mr. O. At least this year.

I think they finally figured out that even the biggest fans aren’t going to pay money to see the same guy win or the same guy on magazine covers, year in, year out.

The sport’s all about politics, and politics is always more interesting when there’s an actual contest involved. A semi-level playing field and a wider variety of physiques is more likely to elicit excitement than the mass monsters of yesteryear.

I think we’ll start to see guys like Ronnie, Jay, Gustavo (to a lesser extent, Branch Warren) and others with similar builds nosediving in their placings in the next year or so. There’ll always be a place for the superfreaks onstage, but I think the era of Coleman, Cutler and Ruhl is definitively over.

I personally will miss the old days, when nobody gave a fuck about symmetry and T-rexes in speedos ruled the pro-stage. But it’s very cool to see the fans, and people in general excited about bodybuilding again.

Heath vs Dex. Heath is more aesthetically pleasing, better put together, has an advantage in bodyweight and height and his assymetry is minimal.

Dex is overall perfection. He doesn’t have such an outstanding presence, but he came in drier, more separated…

Well that is why I asked. I’ve never seen somebody’s chest like that before… I mean… is it an insertion? or just his shape?

That pic of Heath is unreal. He looks fucking ridiculous. No way Cutler places above him.

Found this:

Dexter’s come a hell of a long way

Wow dude. I remember an old issue of flex that profiled him (gave him the nickname ‘the jaguar’ -lol). He couldn’t have been more than a light or bantamweight. Amazing how he added size slowly over time and still kept his shape. Not sure if it was his official site, or somewhere else, but it said his wasit was under 29".

It’s basically where his upper chest stops and lower chest begins. Francu Columbu had something similar, unreal split in his chest.
