LOL!!!
Yes, on a bodybuilding board, covering bodybuilding shows is a “step in the right direction”.
Are you saying you are not a little bit surprised that Shugart covered the Olympia? I am.
Surprised isn’t the word I would use considering this has to be one of the few bodybuilding discussion forums that seems to avoid discussions about competitions when it comes to any of the authors.
I was laughing at the act of needing to claim we are moving in the right direction when that should have been the direction we were headed to start with.
As far as Shugart, the only thing that would surprise me is if he writes a blog that does NOT degrade professional bodybuilding in some way. Him going to the show doesn’t mean much to me.
Do you mean that you don’t like him implying that someone like DJ became Olympia through osmosis - through just having great genetics, jabbing needles and doing anything that tickles his fancy in the gym, without following any sort of structured routine that went well with him?

Yeah, I hear you. I’d love to see more of it with how the newer guys are looking. I wonder, though: even if this site were to start covering the pros more, I wonder if any of them would even throw an interview our way anyway, after how much some authors on here have bashed pro bodybuilders.

Of course not. I love it when people on bodybuilding boards act as if guys who work that hard actually didn’t do anything at all to look the way they do but inject drugs and relax in the corner.
I ADORE it when they imply that bodybuilders don’t know how they got big so people with big muscles in the gym have the least knowledge to dispense…as if experience doesn’t count for much.
They could also start covering natural bodybuilding too - something that more of us can relate to, including myself. I plan on staying natural all my life.

I think its a great step too! T-mag used to have a lot more bodybuilding content. Who remembers Nelson Montana’s and Ron Harris’ articles on here?
I used to love Ron’s articles. I still read the ones he currently puts out in MD and Ironman. A bodybuilder who writes for guys like us. His “A Bodybuilder is Born” articles in Ironman, although being simplistic
(what a concept these days), are valuable and would do world of wonders for average wannabe or aspiring bodybuilders compared to some of the pseudo-scientific technical shit out there.
Goddamnit, I keep thinking “Tucker Max” each time I see your avatar.
Do you get as many “low-IQ, but hot anyway”-chicks as he does?
I guess TC can hire some BB guy again, now that we have a Mr. Olympia who actually looks great and aesthetic and whatnot.

Yeah, we look similar.
Nope, I don’t get dumb broads. The women I have spent time with are all pretty darn smart. I don’t have to beat women off with a stick, something he apparently has to do now from his fame and celebrity.
He has done some really bizarre stuff though, like making it his business to have sex with an amputee and a midget. There is nothing wrong with fucking or making love to midgets or amputees, but making it a priority is a bit comical.

Brick,
Since you’re in a writing mood of late, perhaps you can cover a show and write an article? TC has more than once said members could submit work to be published.
I know you are not facetious. From what I have seen you write on here, you seem like a genuine, sincere type of guy.
The next show I am going to is not a big show though. Its the NPC Brooklyn. Victor Martinez will be guest posing. Kai Greene actually guest posed last year.
Is anyone here going to like reading up on some little show like this? I am unsure.

At least he didn’t fuck his speech up like he did at the Arnold.
Dexter does do cardio. Has been for the at least three years now.
True, in fact, it’s been more than three years. He didn’t do any when he first started up until he got to the Olympia. He didn’t look like that by accident. He just has a very fast metabolism.

I guess he’s just lying to Arnold in that video than. I doubt he can train and do cardio in an hour, seems odd to me, maybe he was just being a wise ass.

Actually he wasn’t…when he won that show, he trained three days a week and did no cardio. Then he hooked up with Joe McNeal* and trained with his friend, who’s name I forget at the moment, who did more volume work.
Plus Dex is now in his forties and the metabolism isn’t what it once was…still a whole lot better than mine though
Dex has great genetics its about time that he got the respect he has earned. for years noone could touch his conditioning and still cant, he put on a little extra size this year and her finally got a sandow. Its about time.
Im sure jay did all he could but dex just came out on top this year.
I also heard that jay started dieting alot earlier this year so his body was under stress for a longer period of time this year before the olympia. (grapvine) who really knows.
I think its kinda cool that david henry got crowned the under 202 champ. its cool to see the lighter guys get credit to.

LOL!! Yeah! and I guess all other guys up there have just average genetics??!!
They are all gifted and they all have the same weapons to get ready for stage.
He was just better, way better I may say.
I am surprised by their distancing from the sport in recent years. It seems like just another facet of lifting that the site could cater to for more readership. Makes fucking business sense.
Plenty of lifters exsist that would dig hearing about the training and the sport even if they are not personal users of bodybuilding related drugs themselves. Natural guys could use the exposure, and the pros have plenty of knowlege that could be applied to lifters from their own lengthy experiences.
It would be nice to see the site incorporate more bodybuilding authors like Harris as they had before. The site wouldn’t have to become a 90s flex with dudes in lumberjack attire and sunglasses yelling at each other while curling.
It could be done in a very respectable manner with articles and interviews that would bring more interest to a sport more related to the average gym goers goal of looking better than this site has led people to believe. And not needlessly bashing anything bodybuilding related in other articles would be a fucking start as well.
