Little Bro's First Gym Experience

my brother whos 75 pounds goes to the gym for the first time!

Is that 225 he’s pulling? I can’t tell the video is kind of blurry.

If so, that’s 3xBW, which is pretty damn good.

If not, it’s still awesome that your little bro is interested in lifting weights whilst being so young. How old is he?

hahahaha way intense!

I bet his lower back felt like he got rear ended by a mach truck the next day.

Good thing you are watching over him, making sure he doesn’t get injured.

Awesome. Good to see it’s a family institution.

I especially like the sled dragging. That was just plain cool.

And I was shocked to see how good the form on that first deadlift attempt was for the kid. Darn near perfect for a first timer. They learn a lot faster than older people. Just do me a favor and don’t let him max too often at such a young age, or bend his lower back (the heavier weights). It’s been my experience that letting little imperfections creep in to newbs training makes it near impossible to take them out later in life. Very hard to un-ingrain.

Oh, tell him congrats on the pulls. Great job on getting him into the gym and away from a sedentary fat future

I love how 2 of the first 3 posters warn that you’re going to stunt his growth.

thats fucking awesome…

Nice job passing on the tradition, that kid is gonna pull 1000 someday…

nevermind, its the posts on youtube he is talking about. what do they know.

If he’s below 13 you shouldn’t go too heavy with him.

When I first read that he pulled 225, I thought it was a DL. I almost shat myself.

Yeah, ouch! Looks like he went to the DW school of DLing. Drop the poor kid’s weight!

It’s great that you’re getting him lifting, but at his age and (lack of) experience, it’s not a great idea to getting him to dl weights he can only manage for 2 or 3 reps.

Awesome stuff !

yea i just wanted to see how much he can manage while still keeping good technique. I wont be making him pull anything above 70 percent any time soon. I’m probably gonna start with more sled draggings and med ball works to build some work compacity before anymore “heavy” lifting.

haha that kid gets my hero of the day award for sure!
