i lift my head throughout my bench. i find that i’m tighter when i do it and easier to stay up on my traps.

some feds allow it while other, more micromanaged feds, don’t.

IPF it’s a no-no

I started doing it out of a bad habit; watching my touch point so it was the same all the time. When i got into shirted benching it actually helped a lot. I like it but think its only for certain body types. for certain people when they lift their head they roll forward and actually lower the stomach a little.

I never got into the habit, as I’m USAPL/IPF, but I am tempted to when I am shirted.

I’m not a powerlifter and don’t know any of the regs, but it definitely helps me explode. Dave Tate seems to do it all the time (so’s I copyz).

I lift my head. It’s just habit now. The key is to not lift it so much it screw up your setup. Also, put your head back down when you press.
