Are you joking? I would never pray to Bill Gates about lifting. Have you seen his physique?
At least Jesus can hang out without a shirt.

LOL, no shit.
For all those that answered to this thread. I thank you. For everyone that thought I was suggesting anyone look at their own life I wasnt. I was not condemning anyone. I was simply expressing a realization that I had, and was wondering whether or not there was anyone else that had a simlar experience.

We knew that. It was just funny to read at first, hence all the comments. I’m sure the jokes and such were all in good fun.

Lifting for Christ?
Nah, I DRINK for Christ.
I drink to get drunk.
I interpret that to be more of a behavior, as in humble, than a person shouldn’t be physically strong and powerful.
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full,” Jesus said (John 10:10)
Like “sloth”? I struggle to see your logic, but I somewhat understand what you mean. I started lifting with the intentions of attracting females and performing ungodly acts to and, uh, “on” their bodies, but anyone can sin doing anything. I’ve sinned just by walking out to check the mail by checking out my neighbor’s wife as she’s bent over working in her flower bed. Of the various lifestyles one may lead I don’t rank weightlifting to be one of the most sinful.
Pat Robertson lifts for Christ.
Could God make a barbell that He couldn’t deadlift?
Anyway, I don’t believe in God, I think that this is a human invention.
Does seeing spots in front of your eyes when doing high rep squats count as “seeing the light”?
And I don’t lift for Jesus. But I occasionally spot for him. That little mexican guy can lift an impressive amount.

hahaha, is his nick name Chuy?
Or you could say ‘I have been indoctrinated by this social construct; therefore altering my behavior and conforming to given set of parameters…’
I think the original post was referring to a Dave Tate quote:
“Just lift heavy, for Christ’s sake!”
or is it, “chrissake?”
Blessed are the cheesemakers.

What exactly does lifting weights have to do with one’s personal relationship with God? Seems much more likely you are bringing up the name of Christ in order to churn up the water, than actually being interested in people’s religious beliefs.
Yea seriously…this is bullshit. How the fuck does one lift for christ. How does lifting weights better anyone else than you?..and how is that christian? I don’t see any correlation between the two…nor do i want to see a correlation between the two. IMO, religion is one of the worst inventions of man, and is responsible for more hate than love…and more death than life. Troll.
If your not lifting for Christ than you must be lifting for Satan…

Is there anyone out there that believes we lift for Christ?
Personally I lift to glorify God! Every desire and interest we have that is wholesome and pure is from the Lord, whether that be gardening, studying theology, powerlifting, or bodybuilding. I know without a doubt that the Lord keeps me safe and protects me while i lift and strengthens me as well. And I thank Him for that everday! One of my favorite passages…“The Lord is my strength and song” Alot of people get the right mind set before a big lift by listening to heavy metal or something hard, I remind myself over and over that I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me! Having only been lifting for a year and a half and Bench pressing 200lbs is a miracle and a blessing.
Personally I dont feel it is neccessary for anyone who thinks this thread is stupid to take the time to post on here and annoy those who may actually be inspired by others like them. If you dont like it, you should save your time and not even bother.
God bless, and lift BIG!
The God of the Bible is a false deity.
He glorifies war, infanticide, animal sacrifice - and even worse, right within the pages of that book.
Even if that were the true god, I would never have him. Not unless he somehow made all of that make sense for me.
The real god is to be found within oneself, not in a book.
I lift for the Virgin Mary, I’m Catholic.
Also, you could say that Jesus was the only person able to deadlift himself.

well I am sorry you feel that way. I guess my question to you is what bible you have read. Because my bible and my God don’t condone that kind of behavoir. My God doesn’t “live” in a “book” either. Yes animal sacrifices were proformed, but that ended when God gave us His Son to atone for our sins. My biggest issue is this, Non-beleivers like you feel free to persecute us, and try your best to convince us that we are brain washed idiots who cant think for ourselves. But the minute we stand up for what we beleive in , and try to talk openly about our feelings and beliefs, even with other believers, as in the purpose of this thread, we are slandered and made fun of.
Again…if anyone dislikes me or any other christians, feel free not to post in the threads that have to do with christianity, why would you expose yourself to something you feel is so idiotic and rediculous…is it just to try to make us feel like crap and start a fight? well, if it is, that is sad. And I feel bad that you have nothing better to do with your day.
I will not respond to anything else on this thread. Simply because I am not gonna be part of a “fight” that tries to pit “believers” aganst “non-beleivers”
Nothing I say is intended to hurt or offend anyone. I have no negative feelings toward anyone of any religion, or lack there of.
God bless you ALL!

I don’t see the point of lifting for Christ. If I believed in Christ, I could think of other things to do than weightlifting that would probably make him happier. Weightlifting makes me happy. It sounds a little self-serving to say you’re weightlifting for Christ, when it’s what you want to do and your religious obligations really have nothing to do with it.
Hang on while I go drive my car fast for Christ.
Amen, brother

You are trying to pass yourself off as a martyr. He never said he was a non-believer or that you and christians should be persecuted.
You also need to re-read your bible. The Old Testament God was mean and smote all who didn’t believe in him. The New Testament God was a little nicer but not by much. More people have been killed in relgion wars than all other wars combined. You can’t tell me that’s a good thing.
If you are not too scared, try googling the name “Gilgamesh”. These tabs are the oldest written story know to man. Over 10,000 years old. Read them and you will see the seeds of religion. It might not change your mind but it will definately give you insight on how the bible was formed by man for man.
Wouldn’t bulking be considered a sin? It is in some ways a form of gluttony?
Anyways who gives a shit about lifting for Christ. I lift for the Easter Bunny. That big furry bastard sure does know how to motivate a mutha fucka!!! Anyways pointless arguement. No proof god or christ exists. At least the Easter Bunny has the balls to show up in every wal-mart, kmart, and mall in America every now and then.
