Help?
As of now all I can do is biceps and leg machines. Anybody know of lifts I can do while I heal?

Put your shoulder back in its socket. Get it looked at.
Haha I did already, but it still hurts like hell and I can’t even get into the starting position of a push-up.
The team trainer just told me to take a week off from rugby and to skip weight room for a while, but I still want to get in there and do something.

Here is my .02
Rest, Ice, anti-inflammatory, repeat. If you want to take a week off before seeing the doc and it gets better then fine. If it still hurts then chances are something is wrong. The shoulder sucks, in my opinion, the worst spot to get an injury on the human body that doesn’t cause mental retardation or death. A myriad of things can tear, smash, break, etc. You might want to get it checked out if things aren’t working properly.
Anyways, see the doc or start with that week off which you will ice and rest. I’d say use some Ibuprofen to keep the swelling down. Your trainer probably has a stim machine. Hook up to that every day or every other day. I loved that machine and it helped my shoulder out a lot.
If it doesn’t heal in a week then see a doc. If it does heal then your good to go. Train legs in your off week.

Ummm… don’t do curls. By a sling, get in it. Now go see a doctor. Trust me bro, you don’t want to fuck around with your shoulders, I did, and I’ll regret it for the rest of my life. I’m just now getting back into the gymn with all of my regular lifts and it has been 7 weeks since my dislocation.
I’ve been in your position before. You should be able to do cable pushdowns, various biceps exercises, rows and legs.
I recommend you dont though. Let it heal.
I agree with everyone else: you should go get that looked at by a doc. With shoulder dislocations there is greater likelyhood of tears to the labrum, fraying of tendons and pulling of ligaments. These are things that if you dont catch early on and rehab, can lead to some serious chronic issues that will keep you out of the gym for much longer than a few weeks. Also keep in mind that after the first dislocation, chances of repeat dislocations goes up.
Unless your on the leg press it should be all rehab work after the first few days of rest. Keep little range of motion and extend it slowly.
The shoulder and hamstring are two injuries that always reoccur. Even when there is no pain you should concentrate on stengthening all surrounding muscles.
Thanks for all the advice guys. Luckily my mom’s a nurse so doctor acess is easy and i’ll be seeing one shortly.

I agree with this. In fact, no bicep work! The biceps tendon runs right through the delt and connects at the shoulder joint.
Eventually you may want to do rotator cuff work to get that joint stable again.
