Less is More

I’m just curious…I’ve been following the TBT program for about 4 weeks now and I’m really loving it.

The program basically consists of 4 compound lifts and 2 isolation exercises per workout, incase you didn’t know that already.

Anyway, would it be a bad thing to throw shrugs into the workout ontop of the 4 compound / 2 iso movements, twice a week? Maybe on a day where you are doing pull-ups instead of rows?

I mean I don’t want to be stupid and overtrain myself, but the 4/2 is probably just a general guideline, safe for everyone, if you will. I’ve been eating like an animal (3800-4000 calories on an off-day and 4400-4600 on an off-day) and sleeping 8 hours a night every night.

So anyway, what I’m thinking of doing is on the days where I do pull-ups and not rows, I’ll throw in an extra movement of shrugs at the end, which would make it 4 compound, 3 isolation, 1 or 2 days per week, alternating.

Like I said, I realize the 4/2 is a guideline, but at the same time I don’t want to be stupid and set myself up for failure. Sorry if I sound like an idiot.

Just try it and see if you can recover from it. As long as you can recover and grow from it you’re golden.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. I knew it was a stupid question in the first place that no one could answer but myself as everyone’s different.

I’m going for it…huge traps are sick.

Thanks bro.

Hope that link works.

Maybe you might use a different exercise than shrugs. Power shrugs, or that modified Jav. complex, are good.

TSB?

Why?

Give it a shot. You are eating enough, you are resting enough. Now it just depends on how much of a beating you can personally take.

Try it, if you can’t recover, stop, else continue.

It goes back to another thread yesterday where apparently he admitted that he thinks that people just lift weights to ‘look tough’ if you want to be tough, you have to do pushups instead…

When me and a few others disagreed with his reasoning, he decided to start name-calling, making fun of my avatar…and now apparently it’s carrying over to other posts of mine as well.

That’s cool de sleepin…but you need to grow up some day, seriously.

Anyway, thanks for the advice everyone. That link to the traps program is awesome…I’m going to look into that one.

No. There was no name calling. I bagged out bodybuilders. So it was hardly an attack on you.
