I have got several questions so I will cram them into one post.
Does anybody have any glute-only excercises? I am talking very glute dominant Squats are good, but my quads get huge and out perform the rest of my body so I want to stay away from that, unless somebody has a useful variation.
I have stopped doing legs because of my problem with them growing out of proportion, but I would not mind giving them a little kiss now and then. I have been running lately, but I am reducing the distance because it has been hurting me elsewhere. Anybody have any good total leg excercises (NOT quad dominant) I that I could do for some shape, but little if any size (at least till I put about ten pounds on top)?
Has anybody ever heard of a tea called Yerba Mate? It rocks...smooth energy a lovely drink. Anybody else try it? What do you think?
All the above are good. How could we forget lunges, though? I can’t sit down for days after doing them! And, if you don’t mind looking like a real sissy, you could use that girly “buttblaster” machine and have lots of people laugh at you:) Good luck.
First off… hi Eric! Anyway, glute exercises… deadlifts for sure will rock your butt off! I did them yesterday along with front squats and it hurts to sit down today. If you have access to a Swiss Ball, Paul Chek recommends hip extensions which literally kick ass! Uh, pardon the pun.
No idea about legs- I get the reverse problem (big butt, little quads), but yerba Mate is tasty. I was in Rio, and they drink that stuff like we drink coca-cola. Unsweetened mate (pronounced “mahtch”) is great, though.
Yeah, that “girly butt blaster” machine. I’ll only use it right before a contest or occasionally for a change of pace - but it is effective.
However I do perform my leg curls in a way that really affects the butt. At the top of the movement (when contracting the hams), for a little "umph" in the glute muscles, I bring my thighs up off the pad. Still in good form, mind you. Do this for the last four/five reps of a set. Burn them glutes! hee hee.
These are great - especially precontest. I had read, years ago, that Rachel McLish performed her leg curls this way. Guys, I know, I know - she's a GIRL. But mind you, she had spectacular glutes.
Thanks guys and girls! I got some ideas I just have to play with some routines and see what works for me.
If you ever are around some health food stores, ask about Yerba Mate....It's pretty amazing...makes you feel goood. I like the Guayaki brand myself...Try it and see what you think.
