Caboose Out of Proportion with Legs

Alright…I know i’m asking for s@*t on this one, but if I get a couple of good suggestions it will be worth it. I have always had ‘prominent’ glutes (like you’d see on a sprinter) and they have always been out of proportion with my legs. While my legs aren’t bad, I have always had trouble bringing them up to match because as my leg development goes, so goes my glute development (squats, leg curls etc.)

To remedy this, I was thinking of employing the sissy squat as written about in this article: ( Real Men Do Sissy Squats ) and maybe doing deads exclusively for hams as these are the least glute involved exercises I can think of. I know I may have issues without any exercise variation, but i’m hoping I can make up for this with rep scheme changes. Any opinions greatly appreciated.

I’ve always had a pretty prominent ‘following’ myself. What worked for me eventually, was a pre-exhaust approach to training my quads, and more recently (due to a back injury), front squats instead of back squats.

Could just be that you store most of your fat there.

Thanks Stu. I didn’t think of that. How does that set up for you? Leg extensions first? How about hams?

pre exhaust with extensions, front squat, hack squat, straight leg DL, ham curls…go home.

The extensions before squats will totally make your quads the weak link, so you won’t be able to use really heavy weights for squats without your quads tiring first (before your stonger, gluteal muscles get a workout). Also, if you decide to make use of the front squat, by having the weight actually positioned in front of your body, you will simply feel more stress on your legs, and less (if any) on your posterior chain (your butt!).

Hamstring-wise, I have personally found that by doing stiff leg deads 1st, I just feel a much tighter contraction when I get to the leg curls.

Dont mean to Hijack thread butt what is a good leg exercise for developing the teardrop muscle in your leg?

Back Squats have given me a Shit load of mass to my upper quads no doubt but teardrop muscle not so much. And I doubt i will ever get into jist of doing Front squats, i personally just dont like them. So what other exercise could i do to help develop that muscle?

man, i would say don’t worry about it, as long as it’s muscular, not fat. I’ve thought i had similar problems in the past, but now my thinking has changed for 180°.
Try to bring up your hamstrings, wear pants that actually fit and you’ll be fine.

Where can I find some pants to fit my massive legs?

but honestly…front squats really helps me get some quad size.

Not to hijack, but can you post your training regimen?

I’d like to send it to my girlfriend, she can use some more size back there.

Check the “how do you train” thread for Stu. I once asked him a question about this and he wrote a very detailed breakdown that helped me a lot; it’s in the opening post (I have the exact same problem)

As far as sissy squats go, I don’t think they’re the best as your main quad exercise. It makes more sense if you want to absolutely minimise glute involvement, but I do want to have nice, firm ones, just not huge  Unless you do them in the hack squat machine, progression can be tough, too. But they’re a great exercise for quads all in all.

I’ve been getting some Buddy Lee’s at Sears for dirt cheap.

box squat, followed by GHR. I have a ginormous ass from my powerlifting training.

I’m a 16 year old male.

I can send you those pics, and notify the FBI. LOL.

My teardrop started blooming when I was introduced to Jerks. You see a lot of Olympic lifters with good teardrops.
Maybe you could replicate this by doing quarter front squats after your normal front/back squats?

I’m a member of the junk in the trunk club too, however my legs have always been my biggest body part.

Women love the booty

This has been an issue for me in the past, the 2 things I did were:

  1. Blasted my hams, mainly with loads of GHRs (weighted, NOT pushing through with the glutes at the top of the movement), and sometimes machine hamstring curls. Before this my hamstrings were lagging and as a result my backside looked a lot bigger by comparison.

  2. Began taking an AI at a very low dose - I’ve been a lot leaner on my lower body since doing this.

I’m not suggesting anyone here goes for option 2, this was just the icing on the cake for me. Bloodwork would of course be a good idea if anyone were to try this out.
