The cost of living would rise to some extent, but it would lead to a more egalitarian society, without becoming communistic. Illegal immigration makes it harder for the average citizen to earn a living wage. If you can’t survive whilst working, you get homelessness, crime. The whole society pays for that one way or another.
I don’t know if Americans would endure a lower standard of affordable living, in exchange for no illegal immigrants. Until the impact of illegal immigrants and other forces such as the global economic climate, hits the individual, the are going to be happy with their head in the sand.
The same way all the banks were fine with sub prime mortgages until the inevitable and foreseeable collapse came, and the house of cards fell down.
Here in Australia we had a scenario where the 2 duopolistic supermarket conglomerates were charging the customer only $1 per litre of milk, because it was a great marketing ploy having a staple food item so low. All the consumers loved it. The only problem was it wasn’t sustainable for the dairy farmers to sell their produce for so low. They only get a small percentage of the retail price maybe 10c a litre at best, breaking even was a best case scenario, most were running at a loss. Because the two publicly listed companies were so powerful they could exert so much pressure on the farmers, screwing them out of a fair profit.
This couldn’t go on forever, but it did last several years. Now the milk cost between $1.40 to $1.90 per litre. Up to nearly twice the sale price. I don’t know how much of the increase goes to the farmer, knowing these companies they are also getting extra profit and not passing it all on to the farmer. People however accept the price, because that’s how much it costs. Reality eventually re asserts itself.
I’m not aware of any studies like you mention, but I try to keep appraised of the general lay of the land rather than being a specifically focused only on economical, or immigration issues.
We have complicated, multifaceted problems in our societies, with no real simple or easy solutions. It would be interesting to see such a study, though I’m sure the results would also be polarising depending upon who is behind it and what their biases are. You would need to analyse several different studies, and assess them on their merits, in the hope of getting a true picture.
Last I heard it still is. Every once in a while I see something in the news here about them, in Toronto the main thing they are fighting for is to keep police out of the gay pride parade.

It’s not all due to the left, but look at what is going on in Europe. After they let in millions of illegal immigrants a lot of people began supporting right wing parties. Poland had a moderate liberal government, now the ruling party is considered far-right. Immigration is one part of it, another is trying to push gay rights and abortion on people who don’t support that stuff.
I just don’t get it. They can’t seem to see this. Most people are not ok with extremism on their side but it’s my opinion the left is reallllly going full bore psychotic
And are these businesses who are hiring illegals run by conservatives or liberals? The conservatives don’t mind illegals coming here to be exploited (that’s why there is no wall) while the left wants to give away entitlements and citizenship to illegals. The left may be bleeding heart commies but the right is immoral on this issue.
