The stories those guys have. Nothing like it.
Honestly you could easily go on an honor flight trip with a local school. They typically only take older vets but schools are constantly looking for guardians. At the least you’d probably get a free trip to DC with good high school kids and a bunch of older vets.
I can’t remember where you said you lived but I’d be shocked if you didn’t have multiple schools in your area that already did this. Most do them at the start of summer but some do November and some do spring break. I help one local school with fundraising for it every year.
Just to be clear your fear with Biden is a few creepy pictures? The dude is definitely old and handsy no doubt about it. Meanwhile Trump has a book written about over 30 cases of sexual assault against him, has admitted sexual assault, been divorced three times, pays porn stars to stay quiet, and talks about wanting to fuck his daughter.
Again I’ll take the numbers. I’m sure you’ll do the opposite.
St Louis city
No shortage of options. Also if you know of any local older veterans that would be interested you can reach out and sign them up. The schools typically raise all the money themselves. The veterans never pay anything. Each veteran has a “guardian” kinda like a buddy that is assigned to them typically kids but sometimes other adults. For the most part when I’ve gone everyones in a group anyways as they tour the sites.
I’m not from a huge population area but I think I’ve signed up over 20 local vets that have went. Most of the people in charge of the program at the school do outreach stuff to find veterans who would be interested but they are always open to help with that in my experience.
St Louis is a black hole. No such program exists here. It’s like if black metal was a city
OneNewsNow? How can someone not figure out that’s a fake news site?
Not so my man. You got three going shortly. From a quick glance you might have one of the most active areas in the nation.
I meant for veterans programs. My bad and thanks for the link.
I ignored that the list was compiled by a group with an agenda because the number is hilariously low even for that. For the time period of those 21 even if that’s accurate the US has had about 450 people die by lightning strikes for a funny comparison.
It’s obvious we need to ban lightning.
We just keep running around in circles and I’m not even sure what we are arguing about anymore.
Yes, he is different, I have mentioned that several times and I’m not going through it again. Also, the political climate has changed and political violence is not uncommon, while a few years back it was.
You brought up Biden, not me. All I know about him is that he’s a Democrat and there are tons of pictures and videos of him inappropriately touching women and children, not exactly a good look.
Yeah, he’s a piece of shit, used to hang out with Epstein too and is accused of raping a girl at his place.
I’m not here to defend Trump, by the way. I just think that the Democrats as they currently are would lead to a lot of problems. Open borders, free healthcare, free tuition - where is the funding going to come from? The US will end up like Venezuela soon if it goes down that path.
You also keep saying that the violence is mostly from the right, which is not how I perceived things, but OK. However, the left certainly has an image problem here because a lot of people say the same thing. Would it not make sense for them to stop trying to shut down any event they don’t like, simply because doing so is counterproductive? If you are trying to win an election then why make more people hate you and sympathize with your enemies? It’s absolute stupidity.
As for the Nazis at Unite the Right, I saw the headlines about neo Nazis and white supremacists but nowadays they accuse everyone who doesn’t agree with them of those things so I didn’t take it seriously. It wasn’t until I read the Wikipedia article that you linked that I realized that people were actually waving swastika flags. It’s like the boy who cried wolf, if you call everyone a nazi etc. then when the real Nazis show up nobody will take you seriously.
This whole discussion makes me glad I don’t live in the US. Neither side is half as crazy over here.
Are you under the impression that those things magically happen if a Democrat is elected? You might want to take a look at where the funding came from for Trump getting everyone healthcare and Mexico paying for the wall. Oh wait those things didn’t happen. Your spitting up right wing talking points left and right in this thread with the Venezuela thing which makes me know you’re getting your US politics information from right wing biased websites.
Uninformed people is certainly an issue. But you don’t speak for all of Canada and perhaps all of them aren’t getting their information from the same right wing sources as you?
Perhaps. In the protestors mind it’s about letting white nationalists know they aren’t free to spew their hate in public.
I’ve been saying Nazi’s because they were actual Nazi’s. Are you under the impression that people on the left call everyone a Nazi? Because again you’re continuously pretty misinformed on all of this.
I’ve been to Venezuela, back in 2008. It was very nice back then, and the stuff that Chavez was doing to help poor people sounded great, but look how it ended up.
No but the odds of it happening increase greatly. I think “free” healthcare is great, but it has to be done properly (as in not Obamacare) and you can’t invite millions of illegal immigrants to get a piece of the action without the whole system getting screwed up.
The two main news site I look at are Ottawa Sun and BBC News. Are those far right in your opinion? I can read an article and form my own opinion rather than just agreeing with whatever conclusion the authors wants us to have.
So you are trying to justify left wing violence. You are part of the problem. Somebody else might say that the holocaust never happened and Hitler was a good guy so they are justified in waving swasitka flags at a rally, you and them are two sides of the same coin.
Yes. They called Jan Sobieski a Nazi despite the fact that he was around long before any Nazis, and he also stopped the Ottoman Turks from invading Europe. Wouldnt it be nice to live in an Islamic caliphate?
For some reason only right wing sites are coming up when I search this, but whatever
There are plenty of instances like that where they call people Nazi, White supremacist, racist, rapist, and so on. It becomes impossible to take them seriously. Nicolas Maduro even did an interview where he said that he believes Trump is a member of the KKK. It’s jsut inflammatory nonsense.
Using Venezuela as an example of what happens when a country has things like socialized medicine and college is about as fair as saying Somalia is a good example of a country that has unfettered capitalism.
This has nothing to do with the US and is essentially only peddled as a right wing talking point.
Methinks you don’t know much about how US politics works. How much did the odds of free cheaper healthcare for all increase when we elected Trump who called for it? How much did the odds of Mexico paying for the wall? Pro-tip: Figure out how major legislation gets passed in the US.
Why don’t you work on reading? I said in the protesters minds dumbass. Not once have I justified left wing violence. Another example of you failing to read and putting words in my mouth. Getting old dude.
Look at what right wingers call people on the left. Hell even in this very forum look what they get called and accused of. Some people overuse terms on both sides.
I like how tons of countries have socialized medicine but somehow the US doesn’t have a chance of ending up like the places with better health care outcomes and definitely turns into Venezuela.
I hear the Venezuela thing from my conservative friends all the time. I usually respond with the Somalia comparison. Then they say it is not a fair comparison, and then I say exactly my point.
That’s not what I meant, other countries have socialized healthcare and aren’t collapsing. I just gave Venezuela as an example of a country that took a sudden drastic turn for the worse.
I said in the protesters minds dumbass. Not once have I justified left wing violence.
But why even bother explaining the viewpoints of violent protesters? Why not look into the viewpoints of the people waving swastikas in that case?

So your response is “I know you are but what am I?”

Venezuela is a complicated situation, without foreign interference it wouldn’t have gotten to the point that it is at. Cuba is a shitty place and has been under a US embargo for decades, but isn’t half as bad as Venezuela despite being full-out communist for a long time. Now Russia is taking control of Venezuela’s oil. If they had a decent government then they could be living like people in UAE and Saudi Arabia, Venezuela has the world’s largest oil reserves.
That’s not what I meant, other countries have socialized healthcare and aren’t collapsing. I just gave Venezuela as an example of a country that took a sudden drastic turn for the worse.
Yes. A right wing talking point. Venezuela is always brought up by the right when we talked about socialized medicine.
But why even bother explaining the viewpoints of violent protesters? Why not look into the viewpoints of the people waving swastikas in that case?
Because it’s important for you to realize since you’re struggling so much with the concept. Not once have I advocated for violence. I’m not the President.
So your response is “I know you are but what am I?”
My response is you only discuss the left as if the right doesn’t do the exact same thing. That’s what I’m trying to help you realize. So far having mixed success. Your default mode is right wing talking points on pretty much everything. Which leads me to believe your knowledge of US politics is limited by the far right websites you read.
Perhaps if that wasn’t your sole source of information you’d have something more believable than “looks like from where I’m sitting.”
