next topic for discussion, and be realistic (if possible.)

TV- need, or want?

this issue was raised during a question and answer period at the shelter where the felons transition for our grant project. One of the class members told the executive director that the 1 tv in the common room for 15 people was ok, but the cable bill attached to it is “an unnecessary commodity for people who aren’t asked to pay for where they’re staying.”

No, I have not shot him or threatened him with physical harm.

please feel free to respond on a personal or situational level.

personally, i havent had a tv for 3&1/2 years and I dont miss it much at all. I also went without internet for about the first 6 months of that.

I haven’t had a TV in … 5 years and I don’t miss it. I’d miss the internet in a big way.

I’ve gone for years without a tv also but at the same time I was already integrated into society. I think anything that helps them be like the rest of the population might be a necessity. It is certainly debatable, though. TV, even if it seems low-brow and full of advertising, is still ‘arts and culture.’ Do they need art and culture and to be in touch with pop culture and all that?

That’s just pulled off the top of my head however!

Douchey classmate. I went without a tv when I was in grad school figuring I’d be studying so much I wouldn’t need it. After awhile realized I could use the diversion it offered. I think if we’re talking felons who are in transition, offering them a good, safe diversion in their house is a good thing. My .02

t.v offers a sense of “community” and makes people feel connected. also a cheap way to entertain.

A need? no. But 1 TV for fifteen fellons seem reasonable. Now if they were clamoring for each their own TV with cable and such I would have an issue.

I don’t need TV.

I can just download stuff off the interwebs.

vid again?

this might be twice?

Well, you’ll have to pick a fight with someone else because I completely agree!

Maybe he was practicing his golf swing?

I want the program that guy is doing. He’s jacked.

EFS training-

squat-

still with my toes out a lil to take pressure off the side of my ankle, but, I GOT THE BIG GIRL PLATES ON TODAY!

Molly E said that it’d do me good to have the next 3 weeks or so be high volume before I really added the weights back on and dropped reps. (pegg said the same thing after my meet, don’t tell pegg he’s right. I knew he was then, too, but damn.)

worked up to 1 set of 6 at 115 and 3 @ 135.

I know 6 isnt REALLY high volume, but its what i could bring myself to do today.

Few sets of GHR and hypers and hip thrusters, no deadlifting.

-Brought the puppeh with me. For those of you who don’t know, he’s about 30% genius and 70% rahTAHRD. He spent the entire time we were in the gym in Peggs car barking like the apocalypse was coming through the open sunroof. Im sure he wanted to come get his pump on, but even if I had brought him into the gym and tied him up, I’m sure he would have found a way to get underneath someones foot or a 45lb plate falling on the floor.

Next time we’ll just leave the sunroof closed. Its october in ohio, he wont get heat stroke.
