sittin here with a beer and cant decide if i should vacuum or keep wasting time on teh interwebz.

ok i’ll waste time on teh interwebz.

im excited to start lifting again soon. still looking forward to school, and the routine, and getting it over with.

love the days that turn into fall… the air smells different- cleaner.

or maybe thats my promotion/raise?

RUN AND TELL THAT, HOMEBOY!

srsly. friday night after we clocked out i had a convo with my boss (he thanked me for not punching the tard in the face. im serious. oh, and by the way, bc she wont be working while shes in school, she’ll “just go back on the medical card.” oh, you mean welfare? “well, yeah, that.” jaw dropping.) about how much responsibility i have, how much of the new person training i do, and how those with seniority and rank keep coming to me with questions.

i told him its time for me to either severely cut my hours and expenses, or cut my hours slightly and get a raise/promotion.

he agreed with the above, and said he had no problem sending me for promotional testing and recommending the higher end of the raise spectrum.

so its a couple bucks an hour more, which isnt REALLY that big a deal, but it makes me feel better.

the thing he said that i really, really needed to hear was that he’s glad im as harsh, and blunt as i am most of the time. i can say things he can’t because hes the manager, but because im right all he has to do (once in awhile) is soften the blow. and, i hafta say, im damn good at training new people and keeping the higher ranking coworkers on their toes.

i’ll be able to talk about training again soon, right now this is all i’ve got. this and some cookies.

That’s good about the potential promotion. You’re very direct - a lot of women are afraid to ask for stuff like that, so good on you.
A tin of oil sounds good. Or maybe a can of WD40.

Nicely done, asking for the raise and the promotion! You know your self-worth and no-one is going to give you short shrift. That place is lucky to have you.

And a couple of bucks more an hour IS a big deal. That shit adds up over all the hours you work. Students need every damn dollar they can get.

Its been such a good summer that I’m reluctant to let it go. Fall, however, is one of my favorite times so its all good.

Happy Birthday Pretty Lady. Its almost that time…

Hurry up and get off of work! hahaha

Virgos rock! Two of my best friends are virgos!!!

thanks for all the birthday wishes!

it was AWESOME!!

worked, woke up with and went to bed with pegg (a treat, as we dont live together), and it was a pretty kick ass kinda day.

pegg showed up sunday night with gyros, and he got me the pyrex glass storage ware that i’ve been too cheap to buy for myself, even though ive been thinking about getting away from the plastic gladware type stuffs for awhile.

he got me a box set, and several other “extra” sets, to make sure i’d have enough. i’ll tell ya what, food tastes better out of those things. im sure its all in my mind.

my parents got me some jewelery i love but would never be able to justify spending the money on, and its going straight into the safe. someday, i might get all prettied up (sounds exhausting already) and wear it out, but having it on with my normal day to day activities is a recipe for damage!

day off today!

had planned to hit efs this morning with pegg, (stayed at The Stabbin Cabin last night) but we didnt feel like getting out of bed.

can ya blame us?!

so i’ll hit the local by myself later. got word about my next training block… sounds like a lot of BB/conditioning stuff at first, with light weights. GRRRR.

Hell ya! You won’t be complaining about the light weights when you’re basking in the glory of a mean lat pump.

Jewelry is useless and stupid unless you wear it. Here is a story: almost every day for the last fifteen years or so, I’ve worn a gold chain link bracelet. You can actually see it in the last deadlift video I posted. Anyway, this thing is probably worth way more than I think it is. But it makes me happy to wear it, so I do.

I had it on when I left the hotel room one day in Amsterdam. Then we rode for miles all around the city, then went to the gym, went to dinner and I was in a bar in the Red Light District when I looked down at my arm and…NO BRACELET. Immediate panic ensues, but at this point the bracelet could have been literally anywhere in the city.

Because I videoed my squat sets at the gym, I knew I had the bracelet then because I saw it in the vid. Went back to the gym…nada. Then I went back to the restaurant and asked if anyone had seen it. Yeah right, an expensive, valuable gold bracelet…what were the chances? The young lad pulls out a bucket where they kept their lost and found, he reaches in…and pulls out my bracelet! Joy! I said I never expected to see it again, and thank you, thank you.

So, what’s my point? Wearing and enjoying is worth the risk. Even if I had lost the bracelet for good, I wouldn’t have regretted wearing it all those years.

^ couldn’t agree more w/ Ms. Kimba. I love jewelry and I own tons of beautiful gold trinkets that have been passed down from grandmothers, great-grand mothers, aunties, etc. from all sides of the family (in typical Spanish and Middle Eastern fashion). Sometimes I walk out of the house with over 1k worth in gold on my person, which is a lot for a simple girl like me. And I’m sure I could get robbed or lose any of this stuff in an instant.

But the happiness these baubles bring me when I look down and think about who gave them to me or what they represent is totally worth it. Plus they’re so pretty and shiny, and i just LOVE gold…

Anyways, we shouldn’t be tied to our possessions. Wear it, take care of it, enjoy it. And if you lose it, you just have to let it go.

Glad you had a wonderful birthday!!
