the poem- got a lot of good feedback and a lot of awful feedback. revision says its gonna get longer, which is fine, and have more explanation of some stuff- why cerberus is my sentry, why i was born with the rivets, whats happened since, etc.

the ankle- not as bad as last time, i’m way ahead recovery wise (thanks to Doc’s immediate treatment, and my own chemical manipuation/treatment :slight_smile: still not sure about doing the meet on the 28th, and thats just because of squatting and the outward force. i may go just push/pull.

weekend lifting outside the ankle incident-

great squatting on saturday, did a bunch of doubles @ 245. they were deeper than ive squatted in a long time, and when i started doing singles with knee wraps those were good, too. esp considering the wraps were tighter. deadlifting went awesome, too- was on my way to another PR or two before i fuckered myself up.

fucking awesome benching on sunday, doubles to a 2board. got there late, and just 2 guys left in the gym. one of em stuck around to help me- give me liftoffs, etc. Jas got there after the heavy stuff was over and its a good thing- i wouldve stopped after bench but he made me do some dips and stuff.

been using classtime to keep moving the ankle around and prop it up on stuff, and updating my log…

Ouch ouch ouch. Last time I sprained my right one badly there was only a little bruising but it fucked up my accessory navicular for ages. I then went and sprained the left one on a run last year (uneven paving stone…grr), walked it out, figured it was just a twist and ran another 7 miles. Let’s just say it was a little swollen when I got back. Stupid ankles.

did you tear anything last year? how many sprained ankles I’ve had, I never bruised that bad. just an idea. from the beginning of football, until the end of track, I had my ankles taped everyday during phyical activities. just walking on a flat surface, I can sprain my ankle. I’m like a 1 year old some days when I walk. forget how to… lol

cal- i was so mad for a few days… now i’m taking it as the universe slapping me around a bit to remind me to take care of myself. it couldve been much, much worse. it’s starting to crack and pop like its old self a couple times a day… havent lifted this week bc i dont want to be an idiot about it, and would rather be an idiot for doing too little at this point.

koub- i never… actually… went to the dr last year… i KNOW, i KNOW. i didn’t want em to tell me to stop lifting. when doc was working on it this time, he said he felt a lot of instability and scar tissue. WHOOPSIE!! I probably did tear something, at least a lil bit… i know the pic from last year grossed out Wendler when i showed it to him, and i consider that some kind of accomplishment.

Yup that’s sensible. I have to do the same, what with all my dysfunctional bodyparts. I have to find the balance between not abusing my body and babying it. I don’t think you’re in any danger of the latter, though. Awesome Bear will always be awesome.

Saturday @ EFS-

Started off really worried about squatting with the sprain. Pulled the laces a lil tighter and got under the bar for reverse band squats.

Wasn’t really all that bad. Didn’t go as heavy as maybe i could have, but Steve said that they were some of the fastest reps hes ever seen me do. I’ll take it.

Then I went to deadlift. Had high hopes.

I’m kind of surprised that you were more worried about squatting than pulling with the sprain. I was able to do some squatting with minimal issues after my last sprain. But pulling conventional was not going to happen. Because of the way I squatted, my shins remained perpendicular to the floor which caused little pain, but as soon as I that angle between my foot and my shin was less than 90, owie!

Also, have I told you lately that you look nom nom nom?
