What and give us a meaningless trophy! You jest kind sir!
Bumping this because supposedly he is competing today but aside from seeing him in his PL gear on Nicole’s IG Story I have not seen anything and I am having difficulty with the stream.
ok so he did compete. He had a super smoke show 265kg 2nd bench and that is all I know.
I am checking IG stories etc but the media people for this event suck. There was supposed to be a stream and the FB page for this event and Fed has been inactive as far as I can tell the last couple weeks. and I assume Larry isnt releasing anything so he can make some money on youtube.
Some vids including 900 miss

Looks like he totaled 1036kg.
Squat and Bench were there and dead wasn’t. I think he had a bit more on Squat and Bench too. I
I am incredibly impressed with what he managed to do on a short and shit prep.
Is RPS a pounds federation?
So how close was he to the WR?
Were his squats legit? His training squats were atrocious
Not sure what the video source was or why they thought zooming in on the squat like that was a good idea but honestly from the little we see that squat looks better than his training squats.
He missed the record by 40kg ish? IDK I think RPS is a Pound fed (which is super dumb) so the numbers are a bit weird.
He totaled 1036. ATWR is 1075. His 2nd deadlift would have given him 1074. Maybe with pounds or some shit that can get rounded to 1076kg or his handler cant do math.
OK MORE MATH:
Eric Total 1075kg = 2369.969lbs
Larry Attempts (assuming in LBS) = 835+635+900 (3rd missed dead) brings his total to 2370
So his target was chip Eric’s total by 0.031lbs OR 0.014kg. I am guessing they thought he would have another deadlift in him maybe? If so that seems optimistic at best.
TLDR
He pulled for the ATWR, got close, but didn’t have it on the day. Good effort and Impressive lifting, but no glory today.
Tbh attempt selection was where he went wrong. Had more in the tank on squats and bench. Left himself needing a big final pull for the record. For all the fucking about he did he was near strong enough.
Ur jumping between lbs and kgs is hurting my head. Have you seen his squat? Looked like more in the tank. Bench too. He left himself needing a big final pull. If attempt selection was different we mightve got it which is amazing considering the shitty prep he had.
Here’s the squat. He was squatting high in training but sunk it at comp albeit with less weight.
More in the tank than 836 lbs it looks like so maybe he had trouble gauging how much there was left in the tank with squats to depth…maybe all that squatting high he did?

He’s one of the few that are able to get away with that. I remember the US Open last year when they were giving everyone reds for depth even when it was good, I was sure Larry was going to bomb out but somehow he managed.
If he stays focused on PL and can avoid doing dumb shit then the WR is his, that’s all I can say.
I’m saying he didn’t really get away with it. If eve of was just a bit more squatting to depth warming up to his Instagram stunting bullshit he may have had a better feeling as to how close he was to 1RM at comp depth and made better attempt selection. One thing leads to another and he doesn’t have to make a big jump to pull something ridiculous for the record.
Man he left some pounds on the table in that squat and bench. He just needs to focus and not do stupid internet pranks and dude will have the ATWR. Staying healthy is the only if imo.
When u wanna grind ur last deadlift hard for the record for the Instagram clout. Big brain time
Here’s the problem. All he does is stupid shit for likes and views.
Use fake weights for stunts. Problemo solvo
Sadly that’s what seems to bring in the cash
That’s like 4 grapes lol Isn’t there a minimum increment - surely you need to add more than the calibration error?
If it was within the same fed, using the same weight category (lbs or KGs) then yes there’s often a rule saying something like minimum 1kg increments. IF its cross fed or cross weight, then as long as your total ranks higher on paper then thats the ATWR. Thats the problem with a concept like an ATWR that goes across federations. world records are only ‘official’ within a federation, its the rest of us that keep track of ATWRs.
You could certainly have the discussion about the fact that the difference is probably less than calibration error, and it might be part of future discussions on a comparison, but the record books will show one is higher than the other.
