Just genuinely out of curiosity…I was just thinking of where my strength currently stands. Like if I were to compete in a local powerlifting meet for fun at 165 lbs, would I actually be able to keep up with at least 50% of the guys in the competition?

So far the heaviest lifts I’ve done are:

Squat 320 x 2
Bench 175 x 1
Deadlift 385 x 1

Your looking at it wrong. You compete against yourself. You need to do your first meet to establish a baseline. Only meet lifts count. Once you have your first meet, then you have numbers to work off of. Competition breeds excellence. Go for it and set your openers low.

You’re right, you’re right. Thanks for the reminder. Maybe someday I’ll try when I can actually train properly

Did back to back sessions. Trying to squeeze in as much as I can before I go home for a month. Let’s see if I can hit x2 body weight on squats before I go. That would be 330

I’ve been MIA lately, but getting back. Went away for a month, so the 330 x 1 there is an attempt at 2x body weight before I went home for vacation. I knew I’d be weak AF after the vacation and be heavier, so I really tried the 330 before my flight. Was feeling under the weather at the time, but no excuses, I didn’t reach depth. It is what it is. We’ll get it next time.

My last few weeks before my flight, my TMs were similar to the last time I calculated TMs (except for sumo). Didn’t have much progress because of how shitty night shift was and all that. This set of TMs, training kinda stopped because of my vacation. Didn’t lift much back at home because it just wasn’t safe. I was sweating (needed to adjust to the humidity, and the knurling was absolute shit. the bar was slipping down my back from the sweat and lack of knurling. Totally not safe to have like 3 plates on my back). Plus I just let myself eat like shit. No regrets.

November 10 I was 161.3, came back 169.1. Felt it in my belt too, went up by like 1.5 to 2 inches LOL (the holes are half an inch apart). I decided to just reuse my TMs from before. Glad to have done 260 x 8 on squat. I think I did 260 x 10 before, but considering I had like a 3 week lay off, I think the TMs are just right. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.

Felt sick when I did this, tbh. Glad I muscled through it though. Getting this one next time!

I don’t think that’s high. Looks about parallel to me. In any case, great job!

Decent enough rep for a training lift but deff wouldn’t have got three white lights. Good to see you still pushing hard.

Wasn’t supposed to lift but good thing I did. Was feeling scared last few squat sessions that something went wrong with my squat after getting sick. Looks like it’s coming back. Huge mental PR for overcoming the weight on the bench too

My squats compared 3 years apart. For some reason my depth is bugging me. I always thought i reached depth so I stopped taking videos for a time until recently where I took videos more often again.

There’s a powerlifter in the gym thats pretty strong and he was suggesting I use squat shoes. I tried to elevate my heels on plates and damn it was easier to hit depth. So its either squat shoes or improe ankle mobility

On the other side of the coin, I have no plans to compete, so there’s kinda no point in reaching powerlifting depth…

Any comments?
