you assmonkeys need to stop nitpicking this crap and hit the gym.
Due to some of the shadows, it looks like whatever muscle that is that’s moving around isn’t even connected to the man, like its some alien thing, latched on and sliding around.
Very impressed.

You dudes are really serious bout this, huh.I gurantee if he we’re in front of you right now you wouldn’t be having this pathetic argument.Go lift some weights, fools!!!

It’s the internet. It’s a discussion.
Just like you wouldn’t be butting into our argument, calling it pathetic, and telling us “fools” to go lift some weights in real life.
There are a lot of arguments I make on this site that I wouldn’t in “real life”. First, it would probably get boring quick, and I wouldn’t have as much time to think about my next point. Second, the conversation would probably have changed sooner.
There’s no reason for the conversation to change here because this whole thread is about his pullups.
First: That dude is a badass and is significantly stronger than me in every lift known to man.
Second: I wouldn’t count any of those a pull-ups.
I have ZERO problem with him doing them through that ROM, but to me those aren’t pull-ups.
Different strokes…
Here’s my take as a powerlifter myself. I love it; I love Kroc. Since I first saw this a few weeks ago I cut my own ROM. Here’s my I can do maybe 10-12 pull ups/ chin up with my chin call the way over the bar. By my second set I’m only getting 8-9 and then I lose about a rep a set there after.
Using Kroc’s ROM I am always able to get a better feel in the upper back muscles. For the sake of doing them I did 10x10 my last workout stopping when my forehead was even with the bar. IMO, 100 reps at 3/4 to 4/5 range of motion is better for me than 40 full range ones.

Is there actually an organization that holds chin up contests?

Is your argument that if there is no official governing body then there is no certain technique that should be adhered to?
I hope that’s not what you’re saying.[/quote]
No, I couldn’t care if there is a governing body or not, I was responding to the example of quarter squats being used in competition.
Just an aside, but funny thing you mentioned the Marines, Kroc was one, Presidential duty I believe. But before you ask, I have no idea what he did for pull-ups there.
We obviously don’t disagree with his training, he does what he finds works.
The discussion seems to be disputing “his claim” of 30 chin ups. Here’s the thing, he never said anything about form, he just posted a video because he gets questions about how he trains.

No your right I would just laugh to myself and think of how “pathetic” 2 dudes going back and forth, taking each other sentences w/ some sort of counter for what the other person just said.
To me personally “Pathetic”.Its a little bit more than a discussion to me,when guys are critiquing a random video posted by someone and then analyzing the living shit out of it.
Personally I could care less how the man does his pullups, what he does seems to work for him and like I said earlier a tad bit different kind of “discussion” would be going on here if Kroc were sitting right behind us as everyone wrote there comments,ha.
But hey like you said “it would probably get boring quick, and I wouldn’t have as much time to think about my next point. Second, the conversation would probably have changed sooner”
Well then if your bored educate your mind a bit on training, nutrition, etc. instead of wasting your damn time.
Hey I’ve gotta train now cause as I wasted my time here other people are training to be there best.Sorry gotta go…
20 partial chins, probably 11 or 12 reps worh.
A chin up is when your chin clears the bar.
Those are partials. 30 partials might be impressive, but don’t call them 30 chin ups.

Actually I would like to see how many he can do when his chin actually clears the bar.
The fact that this is even being debated here goes to show you something.

Post of the thread.
To be honest it’s arguments like this that make T-Nation a laughing stock.
People worry about the trivial details (oh his chin’s not over the bar, I haven’t eaten in 3 hours and 1 minute I’m shrinking away etc etc ad infinitum) and neglect that fact that he’s working his balls off.
People think diet is more important than busting arse in the gym and wonder why they go no where… It’s cos you’re not training hard enough to utilise your “perfect” diet.
Do you hoenstly think Kroc was going to name thses “30 partial rep chins when I pulled to my forehead”??
Do you think he cares??
Do you think doing it his way, and doing 10 extra reps is going to somehow short change your back development??
I know this is a argument over terminology, but it’s still ridiculous.

All so true. I was with Kroc and others at the elite party this year at the Arnold classic. We were laughing about the form weenies on the net.
You have to see Matt close up to appreciate how dense looking he is. I wouldn’t worry about him short changing himself with his loose form, hahaha.

Apparently you’ve only read that one of my posts on this thread. Now you’re arguing about “our” arguing, and made a much longer post than any of mine while doing it.
Wasting time here, so we’re not getting enough training in? Now that statement’s a bit pathetic.
