Knee Pain from Deadlift?

Question: Anyone ever experience knee pain from deadlifting? It feels as though the cartilage in my knee is rubbing against the bone when I break off the floor.

Background: My deadlift form used to really suck, with my shoulders way far over the bar, and the majority of my pulling off the floor coming from my lowerback, with no leg drive. I’ve been working to address this, and have been training my leg drive significantly more. My last training session though, when I broke off the floor, I felt pain in my left knee. Adjusting foot placement had no impact, and pulling my old way relieved pain off the knee. I’m thinking I may be pulling with too much knee flexion rather than using my hamstrings to pull off the floor, but curious if anyone has experienced this or had any advice.

I’ve upped my cals, and I’m taking some shit for joint health, but if this keeps up I’m thinking I’ll need to switch to reverse band pulling to take stress off my knees.
