Keep On, Keepin' On...

Thanks. To be honest I love the pyramid benching. I usually wait about 30s each set and just band them out. Sorta like cardio session for me , haha.[/quote]

I know, and all the changing of plates should count as conditioning! I like to do a CMS pyramid whenever I visit a commercial gym. 20+ sets of BP and the (skinny) wannabe bodybuilders start to get restless

Hahahaha . Is’nt that what makes going to the gym so fun.

I was on vacation, but still managed to workout.

Ill post my stuff in a second. Not that you all are waiting haha.

Good Workouts, considering they were early morning. Skipping the 4th day like last week, im too bushed fromt he drive back. Will test maxes this week I think.

Great work! As I read through the post, I almost fell out of my chair. Then realized that you didn’t do all of this in just one day.
Still a lot of great work…good weight and volume.

Speed squats with 285#? I can squat that much, but it ain’t speedy

Thanks. I can move the 285 fairly speedy and clean. I expect my squat to be the lift I improve in the most. Especially if I set up correctly.

Aug 8 (max day)

10 mins bike
chin-ups 4x8

Bench Press 135x5 225x4 275x3 315x1 335x1 355x1 365x1(pr) 370x1(pr) 315x3 (hit the bar on the 4th rep and it thru me off)

Squat 135x5 225x4 315x3 365x1 385x1 410x1(pr) 315x7

  1. Working out at 8am was not the best idea. My allergies were killing me. The bench went well, though I was helped abit with the 370 at the end, but Ill still count it as a pr  .

  2. I should have saved the squatting for another, however I have been doing it this way since I started the program. I was spent, and knew this, yet went for it. I’m sure if I would have waited another day I would done better. But a pr is still good, though it was ugly.

Great PRs! To get them on 2 different lifts on the same day is even better.

Congratulations!

^^^x2

Man BIG lifts Gomez!

Nice PRs… especially a bench AND squat PR… It’s like kicking as at a PL meet!

Thanks guys, it’s much appreciated. I just wish I woulda split them up on different days to see if i coulda done more with my squat. Thanks again.

Aug 10 (max-day)

bike 10mins
seated rows 6-7x5

some arm curls 6x8

I really thought I’d have gotten 505. I was nervous, but felt good. Next time it’s mine. Now I’ll rest for the rest of the week.

Scott,

Very strong lifting. You should channel that nervous energy into some rage.
I’ll bet the bar will fly up next time.

You’re right. If I coulda/woulda done that, I’m sure I woulda had it up. I let my emotions–nervousness get the best of me sometimes, instead of using that energy and getting all psyched up.

Damn good lifts and PRs.

Big deads, dude

scottgomez: quietly strong.

Thanks for the congrats & such, it’s much appreciated. Makes me very glad I joined this group (over 35).

I have taken the week of, since my deadlifting.

Next round of workouts, I may drop the 2 of my deadlifting exercises, to give it abit of a rest. Be it the speed, defecit or rack pulls. Of course it all depends on what the ego calls for while I am in the gym, but this is my plan.

Id drop the defecit deads. But that just me.

I may very well do this. Thanks

3 Board Bench (80%) 325x4x5

Time off made me abit sluggish in the gym. For awhile I’ve had a nagging pain in the outside of both of my legs (upper quads). Today it was really bad, made it very hard for me to get full depth. Anyone with any good suggestions, i’d appreciate the help/ideas?

If they are your ITB’s, foam roll those suckers. Heck, foam roll whatever it is.

Stretching the hip flexors and ITB’s is also helpful. It’s made a ton of difference for me.

Thank you I will certainly give it a try.
