Got an injection a week and a half ago of 200mg testosterone enanthate. How long does it take till you feel anything? Does it shut down my own T production at that dose?
barry,
how you react and how you will feel really depends on what is wrong with you. most feel better when they start biweekly shots, but then start feeling bad once the biweekly rollercoaster catches up to them plus the excess aromatase causing all sorts of problems.
have you read any of the sticky posts or other HRT threads?
I have read a few and it seems everyone has a different opinion. I have low testosterone and sex drive that is what I am taking it for. Will be taking 200 mg every 2 weeks the doc said. I workout also for years.
Will see how it goes.

biweekly shots = bad idea normally
no aromatase control = bad idea normally
no hcg / no testicle maintenance = = bad idea normally
not testing for other issues and treating at the same time = bad idea normally

This. I’ve been finding all of this to be true myself. I was started on 150mg test cyp. I felt like a million bucks starting about 24hrs after…then by the following Satuday I felt like I had been run over by a truck when it wore off.
Ok
First let me say this is a great forum I have been on TRT over 28 yrs you can read my story at this link and the Heart Bypass Surgery Update at this link.
http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9239
You new men need to read my story so you don’t end up going down that dam road I had to go down.
When you first test low for Testosterone don’t jump in on TRT find out why your low in some case’s if you find out why and fix it your levels will go back up.
I was told I am Primary for 23 yrs on TRT and not feeling 100%. Because I am not Primary I am Secondary due to a head injury some 29 yrs ago.
You just can’t jump on TRT and think your going to be fine there is more to this then just adding Testosterone. So read the Sticky and learn about this in the long run you will be better off. This way you will know if the Dr. your seeing is up on this and taking care of you the best way there is.
Doing shots every 2 weeks is old men today do shots every week, EOD, E3D or 2x’s a week you need to find out what works best for you. And you need many labs one needed one is Estradiol if your sex life is dead in most it’s due to high or low Estradiol.
My levels for TT were 120 on my first test I was 39 no problems with my sex life. I made it a point to have it 2x’s a week even when I did not feel like it.
Estradiol will kill your sex life.
If you find out why your low and you need TRT you need to get your levels up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range for a young men and to keep your Estradiol levels down to about 20 pg/ml.
After you do this your going to feel better a little everyday as your body undoes the damage done from having low Testosterone. It’s not over night you feel better a little everyday so keep a log on what your doing and how your feel. This way when you think your not doing great read it back.
At the Forum I am a co mod at I sent one guy to see Dr. Overbeck and hardasnails.
I kept telling him not to go on TRT and stop seeing them Endo’s when he did see them he found out his problem was Milk he is fine to day no TRT.

You should be an active participant in your own health care. If the doctor is excluding you from that process, then remind him that you know your body and show them that you have done the necessary research to give a qualified opinion. Your knowledge base is low right now just from what I’ve seen in your posts, but if you put the effort into it, you should improve that.
If your doctor still refuses to include you in the process, then fire him and get another one. Don’t forget the doctors work for you, not the other way around.
Thanks for the responses. I see the doctor tomorrow and he will be doing some tests he said. That will be 2 weeks since the first one. I will ask about Estradol for sure. Is there something I can print off for him that you know of? Yes my sex drive is next to nil and has been for years.
I do have some links about Estradiol this one is about older men but I see this happen in younger men.
http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174
Some of the men that test high not on TRT and use Arimidex to get there Estradiol levels down see there Total T levels go up some 200 to 300 points.

In this link it talks about how bad high E’s are for men.

Thanks for links. What do you know or think about Andriol. I read it has less side effects than Test E injections.

when i started TRT i knew nothing about it, and my doc knew less. I have struggled with depression, lake of libido etc since high school (i’m now 54).
I finally learned a little, went to the doc…got tested, tried the gel, it sucked. Went on injections 200 mg E2W (like you). that worked fine, but listen, the changes were SUBTLE. it was not like “wow, i took an injection and i feel like a bull!!” It took a couple of months before I felt somewhat better. Most of the changes occurred for me between my ears…I just felt a little better. I never had a roller coaster effect of highs and lows between injections.
Be patient. Don’t try to “chase” it. Try the injections as the doc wants for a few months. see how you feel. Then approach him with the idea of injections every week, or E3D.
If your estradiol (E2) is high, ask the doc for an AI and explain why. This is mostly a trial and error PROCESS.
I didn’t know anything about aromatase inhibitors or hcg, or anything. I did notice that after my injections ( every two weeks) my weight would increase about five pounds, and my ankles would show water retention, then go back down in a week. So, I did some research and learned about AIs. My testicles were hurting too, and were all but shrunk away. I learned about hcg. now my nuts don’t hurt and have plumped up some.
with 100 mg T Cyp a week, my Free T was still low. so i increased it a little.
now i do an injection 60 mg T Cyp E3D, arimedex .25 mg E2D, and hcg 250 IU E2D. Now here is the important part…i plan to go into the doc and get a blood test done in about a month to see if this protocol has my numbers about where they should be. I feel pretty good, so something must be working right, for ME.
This is extremely individual. One size does not fit all. take your time, be smart, read a lot.

Did you every try Andriol? He said it does not cause as many side effects and spike the testosterone as much. I read up on Andriol and there are alot of different points of view. I beiieve that a persons experience is a better guage than all the medical literature out there. Anyhow the 2 weeks of the first injection is up tomorrow and I see him to get some tests done. If only there was a once a month pill that would fix everything with no side effects
I have never heard anything good about T-pills in all of my research and in talking with the eight doctor’s I have seen in the past two years.
If it was that simple and the pills worked, don’t you think that everyone would be on them by now? Why do shots when a simple pill works?
I have had doctor’s recommend T-pellet implants, but no one ever mentioned pills as an alternative.
I personally would avoid it.

YOu have the option to take the shots your self once it has been shown. If you can get the bottle. A shot every week and ahalf means that you will goto testosterone 1800 48 hours after shot then go back down to 300 before the next injection. This is pure torture and can cause a huge estrodial deviation which can be a real SOb to control. Get ready for a bad ass rollercoaster ride from another moron dr.
