Wife should recover in about 24 hrs post shot. My wife had a significant sweating episode and then she was good as new.
They didn’t test it but they’re giving it out. I’m not too happy about it but the vaccine is one of those topics that we’re just leaving alone. She wanted to get it and I don’t. Neither of us tried to convince the other to change our minds.
Hope your wife feels better and congratulations on the pregnancy. I must have missed that disclosure. Very exciting! Kids are awesome.
Not trying to change anyone’s mind but they released the findings for a study focusing on pregnant/lactating women recently.
Thanks! It’s still pretty early, but I snuck it in here a couple weeks ago.
I guess it’s good that no one is saying it’s bad, but to be honest, I don’t trust anyone in the US anymore. The way the top health officials have handled Covid have destroyed my faith in them. Research studies can be conducted in a way that they produce the results desired by the sponsors. On top of that, our media is definitely not unbiased and I don’t trust any of them. Fox reports stuff more in line with my opinions/views, but I’m not naive enough to think they’re always telling the truth. I don’t trust any of them.
I’m just to the point where I’m living my life and trying to drown out the noise. No one cares what I think anyway. I just pray that we have a normal healthy baby. My wife is already in an “at risk” category since she’s over 35.
Everyone I know felt a bit low or sick after their second shot.
Hope it will be fine!
Hey… Nice sprints. And then you say you can’t run? ![]()
They were pathetic. There were 8 year olds on the track who could outrun me right now.
On the plus side, I realized what I want to do with 5/3/1 and running. Jim offers up a two a day conditioning option for people short on time. It’s one day of “hard” conditioning like prowler or hill sprints and one day of “easy” conditioning like a weighted vest walk or easy jog (no such thing for this guy).
The best way to get my legs to catch up is to train my lactic threshold. I have some ideas for that and none of them are long distance running.
My reference point for 100s is this workout I used to do:
- 100m x 5 with 1 minute rest between (got my times down to 14 sec per run)
- rest 5 minutes
- repeat step one
4.2.21 C5 W2 D3 - Squat
SQUAT
120 x 5
170 x 5
210 x 3
235 x 3
265 x 8
These were almost all 2-3 second reps but they kept coming.
DEADLIFT
275 x 5
315 x 5 x 3 sets
HANG POWER CLEAN
185 x 2
205 x 2
225 x 2
235 x 2
245 x 2
255 x 2
265 x 1 (tried for a 2nd but barely started the pull before my body quit)
AIRDYNE TABATA
20 on, 10 off x 8 (1.6 miles)
FACE PULL
red x 25 x 2 sets
PUSH UPS
2 x 25
I felt like I was riding the struggle bus again this week. My legs seem to be perpetually sore. It’s pretty annoying because I’m not even doing that much work. Squats were slow but I hit the goal of eight reps. Cleans felt tough again but the weight kept moving. I wanted a double with 265 but my body was all out of sync and I couldn’t get reset. The bike Tabata hit the spot in terms of making my legs feel absolutely awful repeatedly. That’s the kind of thing I need to do to get to where running a mile isn’t a challenge for my legs. I almost skipped the push ups and face pulls. I probably should’ve done pull ups outside, but something is better than nothing. I could really care less about that stuff after completing the rest of the workout. I have one more workout this week, week three is next week, and then I’ll take a much needed deload. This is my third cycle in a row of 5/3/1 without a deload. I knew I would be pushing it but that’s why we’re here, right? I’m hoping that’s part of the reason I’m perpetually sore and losing interest in my training. I’m definitely not overtrained, but I’m a bit tired.
When I said SHTF Wednesday, this is what I meant.
The guy with the gun in his face is on my team at work. By the grace of God he didn’t get shot in the face and was able to shoot the suspect in the neck and end the threat (she lived).
Not to dive down the rabbit hole of gun control in the US, but has officer safety ever been a talking point when discussing changing gun laws?
Thank god you and your teammate are safe and that no one got seriously injured/killed. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have to deal with shit like this. It makes me incredibly thankful to have ppl like you on the force.
I’m honestly ashamed at America sometimes
On a related note: I really hope you and your department haven’t been accused of racism. I’ve seen/heard quite a bit of accusations about racism in the police and it kind of makes me mad.
… Why?
The fact that people who are literally insane manage to get hold of semi- automatic weapons and conduct mass shootings. It’s only April and there’s been 2.
I’m all for RESPONSIBLE gun ownership, like what @Frank_C practices with his family, but I do not understand why it is legal for civilians to own assault rifles. Of course, that’s my bias
Ok, but why does this make you feel ashamed at America?
That’s what I’m curious about.
I love America and have high expectations.
Having a system that allows innocent people to be killed like that is very disappointing
I guess I expect better
It also fuels misconceptions about the US. I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to offend anyone
Don’t worry. We’ll cover that. Lots of mistakes made here.
We hear it all the time.
The gun used was stolen. The maroon car was stolen. Some people don’t care much for laws. Jail time doesn’t scare people anymore. I personally believe these people need to run into law abiding citizens with guns. Unfortunately, the laws make it very difficult to use force. If someone is stealing your car then you can try to stop them but you can’t use deadly force because “it’s just property”.
C’mon, Anna. AR-15 is short for Armite Rifle Model 15. It was made for military use but it didn’t take off. They didn’t let it go to waste, though. It’s quite popular amongst gun owners.
I’m not so much ashamed as I am infuriated. Accountability is dead. Commit a crime - not your fault. The day that nonsense gained traction was the first day of our destruction.
We need to respect authority, take ownership of our actions, work hard, and care about our fellow men and women.
Unfortunately, society teaches us to be selfish and blame others for anything bad that happens to us.
I’m very sorry to hear
Ahmen!!!
Ahh okay. TBH, I really really like guns (completely uninformed though, just a military history nerd) and would love to own a machine gun or sniper rifle if it were legal- would never use it though
THere’s some insane law in california that just lets ppl shoplift without punishment.
I really hope things get better, for America’s sake. Mum’s hypothesis is that America’s “had it too good”. Not sure what to think about that
Anyways, sorry for dragging your log into PWI territory. I’ll stop now
Entirely legal to do so. Will just have to pay a tax stamp most likely.
Well that answers my question.
Both are legal. The rifle is just a hunting rifle used on people.

Silencers and automatic weapons are legal if you pay enough money and get the paperwork. I can get a silencer right now. I just pay an extra $200 for the stamp (and pass the background check, of course). And don’t ask why they call it a stamp because I’m pretty sure it’s just paperwork.
I’m not sure how to get a machine gun, but I’m sure it takes months of waiting.
@kdjohn I forgot to mention that nice lady that pulled the gun had a warrant through the US Marshals, too. She has a long criminal history and yet there she was living her best meth addicted life as a free woman (well, except for the hiding from the Marshals part).
